It was a busy graduation weekend for our Belinder school family. Congrats @ArtWithMrsMandl for earning her Masters in C&I from Emporia St! Proud of you! @theSMSD
In love with these George Mike inspired “Loud Mouth” monsters by Kindergarten and 1st grade! Students came up with their own encouraging message for their monster to shout out to our school! @belinder_prin
5th graders are creating some incredible “Pop Culture Icons!” Students learned about the iconic pop art style, then chose an icon from the past or present. They used color schemes to paint each image! @theSMSD@belinder_prin
First graders worked so hard on their observational skills to create these symmetrical beetles, and I am blown away!! They loved using magnifying glasses to notice details, then drew half of a beetle before printing the other half! @theSMSD@belinder_prin
If you haven’t been in @ArtWithMrsMandl classroom you are missing out! Check out this work of the Belinder students. I know @belinder_prin must be proud! Also thanks to JoCo parks and Rec for a little Kansas history! @theSMSD#KeepingSMSDstrong
Students had a blast today during “Chopped: Art Room Edition”! Students had 25 minutes to create a work of art with the supplies in their mystery bag. Then, we presented our projects and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! I was blown away by their creativity! @theSMSD@BelinderPTA
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in the art room! Belinder students have been creating vibrant Papel Picado (perforated paper) Serape Blankets, and monarch butterflies inspired by the book, Senorita Mariposa! @theSMSD
Stay tuned for some fun, at-home art lessons and activities for all ages! I know this situation is not ideal (for anyone!) however one thing is for sure- creativity has soothing power, and I will never stop sharing that with my students! 🌈 #smsd
One of my favorite projects of the year! 6th graders studied coil pots made in the southwestern region of the United States, as well as different breeds of cacti. They constructed their own variation of a coil pot, then created a cactus (or several!) to be “planted” inside!
Kindergarten artists first drew their owl sculpture from observation, then made a plan of how they wanted to color their owl! They did such a great job following their plans! Love how hard they worked on these ❤️
