Less well-known than Nasmyth's portrait, Peter Taylor painted this after meeting the poet at a dinner party in 1786.🖌️

Rabbie's contemporaries noted its likeness, including Sir Walter Scott: “I would not hesitate to recognise this portrait as a striking resemblance of the Poet”.
