@DannyDrinksWine Widmark as a common man (not the degenerate con-man with maniacal chuckle) is a win for me. Barbara Bel Geddes is ALWAYS a strong addition to a cast. 1950 gem of a film.
According to Richard Widmark, Jack Palance did his own stunt of climbing the boat rope in Elia Kazan's "Panic in the Streets" (1950) after two stuntmen failed. Widmark said "Palance is a good actor—and a nice guy, really; very soft and quiet. But, man, you want to stay away from him—when he gets into these moods!"
After they'd rehearsed with a rubber gun Palance switched to a real one and knocked Widmark out for 20 minutes. Widmark said, "He's one tough guy, strong as a gorilla."
He said in another interview Widmark said, "Jack Palance is the toughest guy I ever met. He was the only actor I've ever been physically afraid of."

P.S: 1) On this day, 76 years ago, "Panic in the Streets" (1950) premiered in Boston, Massachusetts, USA
2) It was also the debut film of Jack Palance.
@CinemaTweets1@BillSimmons Agree. Pound-for-pound Sheridans Hell or High Water is one of the best movies of the last twenty years. Authentic, blood in its veins, ripped from reality.
My personal favorite in KOK's Morningstar cycle. I keep coming back to the book-within-a-book section entitled The Wolves of Eternity. It locks in thematically with the series, AND it is so eccentricly engaging.
Frankenstein (2024)
Adapted and drawn by Georges Bess.
What a vivid vision by Bess. Rendered in B + W, this is an arresting depiction of the mythic tale. I read it in one sitting. The stark contrast and Bess's distinctive art, hook and won't let go.
Before I continue with Vol. 3 of Proust, I wanted some snackable shorts by Lispector, Maupassant, and Checkov. They DO NOT disappoint. Currently reading a longer piece from Chec entitled "My Story" (1896) and it has me slightly entranced.
@carlmoon Selling? No. Buying. Continue to DCA. Blood in the Streets because of market manipulation? Buy more. Those that know will be as rich as small nation states.
