#cafc does it amaze you as a Charlton supporter when you read all these so called people in the know, telling us about signings and or rejections of players about to join us. There is only one person really in the know and that’s @RichSCawley You can forget all the others.
CNN: Do you like capitalism?
ZOHRAN MAMDANI: No. I have many critiques of capitalism.
In the words of Dr. King decades ago, he said, 'Call it democracy or call it democratic socialism; there must be a better distribution of wealth for all of God's children in this country.'
And that's what I'm focused on, is dignity and taking on income inequality.
Visiting family in a small town, took my kids to their local library. An air-conditioned daycare for the tired, fat librarians' kids. Autistic teens play Roblox for hours. A couple people check out Nintendo games. You can do this now, at the library. An exhausted mother naps in the corner while her feral children terrorize the play area.
A disheveled boomer asks for help applying for jobs. She doesn't want to just use the computer, she wants someone to sit there and fill out the applications for her.
"Can you help me?" she asks, confidently. "I'm gonna need some help."
A saintly librarian demurs -- not her first rodeo. "I've got a bunch of projects I'm supposed to do today." But eventually she relents, spending the next hour walking the woman through every single question for Walmart and a local factory. "Are you willing to work holidays? Have you ever had a felony?" (Yes. Yes.) Maybe she can't read. The librarian even ends up paying out of pocket the fifty cents to print some things off for her.
Barely making it in America.

This pub is London pub royalty and one of my favourite places to enjoy a pint in central London. Majestic architecture, a time-capsule interior, a great selection of booze, and a welcoming Guv’nor—this is a must-visit London pub.

When you walk into a grocery store as a millennial you hear songs that were played when you were younger. It creates a familiar atmosphere. Like the world is for you.
But then you realize this is the reality that boomers have been living in for 40-50 years and you can see how it can warp their view of the country
I think i stayed in this place when it was a cheap motel. Great views. Polyester sheets kind of vibe. Absolutely adequate. No doubt begging for a revamp and a 3x price hike.
incredible story. local newspaper folded last week. Local reporter lost his job of 18+ years as a result. He kicks off on Substack at the start of this week, hours later is #1 on the fast-rising leaderboard with hundreds of paid subscribers. I reached out to help him get cracking and this is pretty much everything I hoped and dreamed to be part of when i took this job.
I WILL NOT apologize to that industry sex offender. I do not care about the lawsuit. You will have to carry me kicking and screaming into the courthouse. I hope it will be televised.
Tyre mountain: the best of the north norfolk news. In which africa can't come to a mountain of 1 million old car tyres, so the mountain goes to africa.
The reason I like Eurovision a lot is that it reminds me of the kind of play competition in Athens that sophocles would win you know like competitive art. I think is freaking cool and Eurovision is one of the last bastions of this beautiful form
