The constant dehumanization of Caitlin Clark should be studied. Everyone using her to push an agenda. Everyone in the media using her for clout, clicks, and subscriptions. The league using her for views, ticket sales, merch sales, attention, sponsorships. Other players using her as a scapegoat. And as a punching bag.

And no one actually gives a shit that she’s just a 24 year old kid who grew up desperately wanting to be great. Who worked her ass off to get there. Who was so excited to join the wnba and play alongside the women she grew up idolizing. Who has done nothing but be respectful and deferential in the media. Who always says the right thing. Who has done her best to appease people who seem hellbent on hating her simply for existing.

Truth is, it doesn’t matter what she does or says. It will never be good enough. The “activist league” who claims to care so much about protecting women, and “no space for hate”, and protecting the mental health of the players has spent three years tearing down, isolating, and bullying a kid. A kid who just wants to hoop. A kid whose only crime was being really really good at basketball and becoming really really popular for it.

It’s gross to watch. And history will not look kindly on those who are involved.
