We have been enjoying junk modelling + found an artist, Anthony Haywood, who makes art from junk. We have been looking at his work to inspire us, deciding the best junk to use, looking at different ways to join, and problem solving when things don’t go as planned @ArtistMomentELC
We started the year off with a new Artist of the Moment the Scottish artist Steven Brown. We have loved looking at the vibrant colours he uses and also laughed at the funny names he gives his paintings. We had a go at using his technique to make our own McCoos @ArtistMomentELC
We have lots of up and coming fashion designers at Denny ELC. We have been following the work of Alexander McQuen following on from our very popular interest in the last few months on jewellery making. Getting creative with old shoes, clothes and bags. #ARTISTOFTHEMOMENT
We are learning about Georges Seurat who paints using a technique called Pointillism.
Children have been sharing what they think about his artwork and have been creating their own by finger painting and using circle collage materials. @ArtistMomentELC#creativity#georgesseurat
We love mark making using our hands + managed to find an artist who uses his hands for his work - Russell Powell. Inspired by him we used brushes to make patterns + pictures on our hands then printed them on to paper. “I made a flower” “I made a rocket” “tickly” @ArtistMomentELC

Today we began looking at our new Artist of the month Yayoi Kusama. We looked at pictures of her sculptures and created our own. Children explored the feel of the clay and investigated what happened when they added water and used different tools. Look at some of our creations.
We continued to take inspiration from @FollowWestwood. Children collaborated by collaging an outfit on an outline of a child. Children also collaged, drew and painted on small cut outs of outfits and made old clothes more interesting adding loose materials. #artistofthemonth
Today Mrs T brought in her very special sewing machine. Mrs T helped the children to use it and explained how it worked. With her help children were able to further develop their design skills making some lovely dresses and bags. #fashion#design#creativity#sewing
