On stage nobody speaks. The musicians and dancers of Gran Gala Flamenco hold the show together with their eyes, knowing when to push into improvisation and when to stop. Tati Amaya has directed its music for seven years. We asked him how it works. Interview below.

@historyinmemes Leighton himself never married. He painted this honeymoon scene and stayed a bachelor his whole life. When Britain finally made him a lord in January 1896, he died the next day. His one-day peerage is still the shortest in British history.

@historyinmemes Most of that ornament was not cut by hand. It was eaten into the steel with acid. Around 1500 an Augsburg armor decorator, Daniel Hopfer, used the same acid on a flat iron plate and printed it on paper. Etching as an art form started on armor.M

@historyinmemes The artist here, Iepe Rubingh, also invented chess boxing. He came up with it in 2003 after reading a comic book, and Guinness World Records lists him as the first chess boxing world champion. Bouts alternate rounds of chess and boxing.

@archaeologyart Garzoni left her whole estate to the painters' guild in Rome on one condition, that they build her a tomb in their church. She died in 1670. They did not actually lay her in it until 1698.
