@perrymetzger You can do better than "fanatics", "never", "only", "stupid". Requiring 100% usefulness from one method to all use cases was not something I expected from you. Scales of things matter. As for mentioned use cases check eg. bikes from Netherlands or winter cycling in Oulu, FI.

Before, the vast majority of people knew that most fantastic things were well beyond their reach, and that they'd have to work really hard to even have a small chance of getting something like that.
Today, such things are constantly shown to us as if we could simply pick 'em up.

I would not be surprised if the current ML/AI development was almost completely CPU/data bound. So, we may be getting new systems, improvements and applications at the rate they can be trained. As results are increasingly amazing and useful, the HW capacity will increase.

I wonder, how much of the success of electronic music was driven by decent loudspeakers (and amps)? Listening to familiar instruments over poor quality media is helped by the brain "filling in the blanks", but a synthesized sound needs to be properly reproduced.

So, in the end, there are more less trained people unemployed, and more demand for highly trained people ie. the skill gap has suddenly widened. The salaries of some "low" level jobs were saved, but at what cost and to whom? 10/10

For at least the past 30 years, the public sector in Finland has been trying to do a special (or typical) magic trick in trying to save money from eg. administrative work at universities, hospitals, etc. 1/10

6) Typically, the overall quality of the work done by the highly skilled people goes down due to lack of time, context switching, etc. Also, they may or may not be better at those "lower level" skills. 9/10
