On February 18th, Esabella Cottrell, a senior at Cleveland Charter High School, was awarded a prestigious Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone (1961 model) after winning the District-wide saxophone solo competition.
The award was presented by Steve Bagmanyan, Supervisor of the Repair Shop, and Dr. Joseph Yune, Arts Coordinator. Esabella and her parents were thrilled and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and the new instrument.
Esabella's music teacher, Mr. Cameron Yassaman, was recently honored with the "Outstanding High School Educator" award from the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) earlier this month.
LAUSD was proud to have 1339 students from 19 schools attend "Hamilton" on Thursday, September 26th at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, thanks to the Hamilton Education Program.
