There are many religions but only Sikhs always at the forefront during difficult times.
Sikh Gurudwaras in LA area that have opened their kitchens to help communities affected by the wildfires. @Khalsa_Aid.
Today marks the 110th anniversary of the Shaheedi of Bhai Mewa Singh, the first Sikh Shaheed (martyr) on Canadian soil. This was a time of heightened tensions between the Sikh community and the government, who enacted outright racist policies against non-white immigrants. Following the Guru Nanak Jahaz (Komagata Maru) incident, tensions peaked when government agents perpetrated a mass shooting at Gurdwara Sahib Khalsa Diwan Society in Vancouver. Facing further threats to his life and towards his community, Bhai Mewa Singh shot and killed William C. Hopkinson, the immigration officer believed to have orchestrated the mass shooting and oppression of the Sikh community. Bhai Mewa Singh immediately surrendered and was subsequently hanged on Jan 11, 1915.
After pleading guilty at his trial, Bhai Mewa Singh gave the following testimony: “My religion does not teach me to bear enmity with anybody, nor had I any enmity with Mr. Hopkinson. He was oppressing poor people very much. I, being a staunch Sikh, could no longer bear to see the wrong done both to my countrymen and the Dominion of Canada. This is what led me to take Hopkinson’s life and sacrifice my own life. And I, performing the duty of a true Sikh and remembering the name of God, will proceed towards the scaffold with the same amount of pleasure as a hungry baby goes towards his mother.”
Today many Sikhs revere Bhai Mewa Singh as a Shaheed and the City of New Westminster has declared January 11 as Bhai Mewa Singh Day.
While the MAGA folks are busy spreading lies about the LA Fires, and Trump is busy threatening his neighbours down south and up north, Canada and Mexico have been busy sending firefighters to help out on the ground.

So, what have I learned about the Hindutva Right Wing operatives on @x over the past 24 hours?
First, they are adept at coordinating their attacks and amplifying each other’s messages. Accounts like @Iyervval , @UtsavSanduja , @Cloudwatch199 and others are part of a self-reinforcing hate network directed from India.
Second, they have a weird obsession with sex. As noted, they act like a bunch of sexually repressed teenage boys.
Third, facts not only don’t matter to them, but rather they seem to compete with each other to spread the most outlandish lies and then try to trick their target into defending themselves from those lies.
Fourth, they can’t engage on substance so they don’t try to do so. Their preferred attack vector is personal defamation.
Fifth, they aren’t trying to convince those who don’t agree with them, but rather are simply interested in providing red meat to their followers.
Sixth, they are quick to appeal to outsiders to take their side, in my case looking to supposed allies in Trump World who they are trying to manipulate.
i appreciate all the messages of support from those who care about the truth. I am convinced that exposing these trolls ultimately undermines their larger mission. In the meantime, I will not sink to their level but will continue to expose their lies and advocate for causes I believe in.
@AryaCanada The Federal Government wanted to bring in a foreign agents registry help deal with foreign interference, but @AryaCanada a backbench Liberal MP, petitioned calling on the government to reconsider. Why did he not want a registry to deal with foreign interference?
@AryaCanada Chandra voted no against unanimous consent motion to recognize 1984 Sikh Genocide put forward by his fellow Liberal MP, Sukh Dhaliwal. Chandra in divisive video calls the motion somehow anti-Hindu. So does he believe his fellow MP is anti-Hindu? Chandra is totally unfit to lead.
@AryaCanada In the same post, #ChandraArya smeared Canadian police. He said all this as an MP:
“I begin to feel that there is a small grain of truth in the reports that in addition to Canadian political apparatus, Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated into our law enforcement agencies.”
@AryaCanada #ChandraArya is a divisive figure since he posted an edited video of the confrontation outside Hindu Samaj Temple in Brampton, claiming Sikh protestors attacked devotees inside the temple. That video went viral and led to mob violence outside Malton Gurdwara & at Westwood Mall.
I’m migrating from Twitter to the Bluesky given the increasingly toxic nature of Twitter/X. I’ll be here for a little longer, but after a while I’m going to stop posting here and will exclusively be posting over there. You can follow me on Bluesky at:

@AryaCanada #ChandraArya is merely a Liberal backbencher. He has limited political experience. Disparaged Canadian police forces. Further his inflammatory rants against Canadian Sikhs and divisive language, along with inability to speak French disqualify him to be PM. #ChandraAryaIsUnfit
I am always amazed how #KhalsaAid always manages to be one the first to respond to a crisis or emergency situation. In this case, helping people affected by the #LAFire
How can #ChandraArya run as leader of the #LiberalParty given his past inflammatory language, disinformation, and disrespect for Canadian police and institutions? Does the Liberal Party even have a vetting process in place? #CBC#jagmeetsingh#justintrudeau
As Canadians react to @AryaCanada's bid for the Liberal Party's leadership, we reshare this article on why Arya should've been kicked out of the party for his Anti-Sikh rhetoric & disinfo, including alleging the police are “infiltrated” by Khalistanis.

Conservatives when they get upset by people asking for respect accuse them of being #woke or #wokeism. How do we then describe these Conservatives?
I propose we use #asinine' or #asinineism to describe their demand to assert their right to be pigheaded, agitated & disrespectful.
Divisive rhetoric, such as this by MP Chandra Arya, is regrettable and worrisome. Inflammatory language such as this and by the Hindu Sabha temple priest, contributed to a mob gathering outside the Malton Gurdwara, Sikh place of worship, and at Westwood Mall seeking retribution.
In this post, MP Chandra Arya painted an existential threat of Khalistani extremists due to the isolated altercation at Hindu Sabha Temple on Nov 3 in Brampton. Divisive rhetoric and unfounded allegations against Canadian police forces is problematic especially for a sitting MP.
MP Chandra Arya is running for leadership of the Liberal Party but some of his posts are concerning. In this video, he opposed declaration of 1984 killing of Sikhs across India as genocide. In his argument, he conflated the declaration with anti-Hindu agenda without any basis.
@bajwasonam People prefer black and white, what you've written is extremely grey. In the end, what you believe or don't believe is your private concern.
The issue is when you represent a Sikh character in a movie or video. Are you playing that role as a believing Sikh or an outsider?
@bajwasonam We can respect many teachers: Muhammad, Ram Chandra or Jesus. Yet as Sikhs we only follow our Gurus and Gurbani. As a Sikh, having a 'relationship' with anyone beside our Gurus is deceitful.
Just as you can only follow one path. You can only be sincere to one teacher, not many.
