i've been building a bot that can play among us as a side project. frontier AI labs have mastered RL over traditional games such as chess, starcraft, go, etc. but among us is often overlooked, as its a children's game, and it is not seen as important. I think Among Us and these mafia-style games are extremely interesting for RL because these games contain a social aspect that cannot easily be quantified mathematically, and this makes for a very interesting reward shaping and sim2real gap problem. In Among Us you must:
- play deceptively to avoid suspicion
- eliminate players and flee the area quick enough to avoid being seen
- convince others during meetings that you aren't the imposter
So far, I mapped out the game pixel-by-pixel (this took me 5 hours), and I built a sim that trains an RL bot to eliminate crewmates within a time period without detection. My next steps are to test these results in the real game and then address the sim2real gap such that my simulation bot can actually play and win in a real among us game.
I love building and this is something I've been working hard on for the past few months here
@adilmania wow this is so creative! its not just that you can spell it out w/the logo but the intuition to know what ppl would find amusing and delightful
there are so many works of art from different cultures/languages that are incredible but can't spread worldwide due to the language barrier. I grew up watching Attack on Titan, and I can't imagine my life without it and have never discovered anime. With AI and translation, we have finally built the tower of babbel. We can finally easily and cheaply translate other works of art and dive deep into other cultures and understand one another better
@gtmba_ I totally agree, I moved to NYC from Wisconsin with ZERO connections, and then again to SF with zero connections all over again to get the chance to participate in the ai boom, and now moving to london to work at a cutting edge ai startup @UseCorgi all within 1 year
woah this is so cool! I interned at a voice ai startup (Infinitus Systems) and they improved exponentially through the course of my internship. I do think that more work needs to be put into actually productizing them as the current zeitgeist is to just focus on the actual voices (elevenlabs)
