In eastern Uttar Pradesh, low yields, the vagaries of climate change and a lack of job opportunities have forced a cycle of debt among tenant farmers; they prefer to employ women who they can pay less

"If you want to help tribal people, do not try to reform them. Reform the lawyers, doctors, school teachers, officials, and traders who interact with them daily. Until you do that, it is much better to leave the tribal people in peace."

Great!
A simple extension of this obnoxious line of wisdom would be to say that nobody wants manipur to burn. The people who want peace can convince those in their families wanting violence. Simple.
Nobody wants #SonamWangchuk to die. The person who can save his life today is Abhijit Dipte. Convince him to end his hunger strike. Take him to a hospital.
If Abhijit wants to make a point, he can start a hunger strike himself but spare Sonam.
Don’t turn an old man’s life into a political campaign.
Amir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani made three idiots based on Sonam Wangchuk.
Amitabh Bachchan invited him on KBC.
Now that he's on a hunger strike against the government, none of them have made a squeek.
Pathetic spinelessness.
Census 2011 data mentioned that around 2000 farmers give up farming every day.
In 52% of India's districts the population of farm labourers has overtaken the population of farmers.
That's it. That's the tweet.
a capitalist regime would prioritise convincing the person that there are no chains. If the person is convinced of no chains, the prisoner stops moving and rests with incentives. The prisoner remains a prisoner and the art of struggle slowly fades away...
masses appear like prisoners tied to chains. Every regime has had different methods of keeping the masses within these changes, with negligible failure. A socialist regime focuses more on strengthening the chains so that the screaming prisoner cannot break it.
"...for a political regime that willingly flirts with authoritarianism, the incompetence is astounding."

This reminded me of an incident someone told me. In agriculture University, a teacher was motivating students to perform well in exams by saying- "if you don't perform well, you won't get a job at Agriculture University and you will actually have to practice agriculture!!
The idea behind 'process' is rule of law but it's purpose has to be to uphold citizen rights. When this perspective is lost, process becomes strategy to take citizens and their rights as hostage.
Brilliantly put Prof. @PalshikarSuhas, the process itself seems to have taken a moral and social high ground than the objective. And this is the same pattern that comes in the case of disciplines of education. Environment Science grades are more important than the environment.

There are a lot of similarities between religious fanatics/contemporary right wing nationalists and college-level woke echo chambers in India. Both of them put feelings or sentiments above a rational discourse. There is no room for arguments, as it might hurt their feelings.
On the other hand, dying painfully serving your own sensualist temperament is considered bad and grossly inappropriate. Camus and his Meursault is more relatable than any other character at this juncture of life.
Packets of ciggerates mention in bold and capital- "tobacco causes painful death", which is true. I was wondering, why don't the offer letters of 9-5 jobs mention the same? If you die painfully serving the underlying state economic mode of production, then it's a virtuous death.
In this episode, we discuss the pressing issue of managing heat in India with @aditya_vpillai, an expert in water, energy, and climate issues.
