"What would a Christmas romcom look like as an African story," Thapelo Mokoena at the African Film Forum yesterday.
Inspired is an understatement.

"Women are trained to not recognize the reality of our subjection. For reasons Andrea Dworkin famously put perfectly, "Many women, I think, resist feminism because it is an agony to be fully conscious of the brutal misogyny which permeates culture, society, and all personal relationships." I'd add another reason women resist this understanding is because it directly threatens the commonly held goal of having a happy and healthy heterosexual romantic relationship. If you understand the extent to which men hate you, how will you ever find your dream guy?"
First borns are really experimental kids hey.
First day of Grade 1, my parents put me on scholar transport. I was the only child going to a different school in that taxi, even my uniform was different 😭
When all the kids got off at their school… I also got off. Loya malume driver wasn’t even paying attention.
I confidently walked into a classroom, sat down and minded my business.
Then one kid came to me and said, “Ask your mom to buy you the same uniform as ours.”
That’s when it hit me.
I looked around.
Wrong uniform.
Wrong school.
I was LOST 😭😭😭
A teacher eventually noticed me, recognized my uniform and asked questions. Luckily I knew my dad’s number. My mom had to come fetch me.
Fast forward to my little sister’s first day of school — they made sure to personally take her. My mom even took a day off from work and walked her all the way to her classroom.
First borns suffered so the others could be raised properly.
We were the experiment. 💀
Men are finally experiencing what its like to be a woman and they can’t stand it. For Decades, women have been judged on the way they look, what they bring to the table and how they can serve the man. Now that women have access to their own funds ,their own housing, their own jobs it is a different ball game for these men and they don't like it. women are finally asking what do you bring to the table because I already have everything I need….basically we're judging men on their looks, their finances, and what they bring to the table so we're flipping the script and this has brought a resurgence and men whining & being like “I can't find anyone” “male loneliness epidemic”…..so basically women are doing the same thing men have been doing to us since the beginning of time, AND THEY ARE NOT LIKING IT
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Happy Sunday 😊
I’m so proud to have been the lighting assistant on “Love Bite.”
The whole creation process taught me something new, and I know this is just the beginning. Huge thanks to @KabogozzaBrian for the trust and the opportunity to learn from the best.
Film buffs: What do you think makes the "fake relationship" trope so enduring? From the 1937 film, "Shall We Dance" (directed by Mark Sandrich) to modern rom-coms (Anyone but you, for example), it consistently works. Is it just wish fulfillment?
