Incase you missed it
Meta has rolled out paid subscription plans for its core apps
Instagram Plus - $3.99/month
Facebook Plus - $3.99/month
WhatsApp Plus - $2.99/month
Whatโs actually happening is
Meta is now letting you pay to use Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp without ads.
It works just like Netflix or Spotify: free with ads, or paid without ads.
Why theyโre doing it ?
EU privacy laws are making it harder for Meta to run targeted ads. Instead of fighting that, Meta gave users a choice of keep using it free with ads, or pay a small fee to turn ads off. It keeps Meta legal in Europe and protects their revenue.
For now if you subscribe for it , you get Ad-free experience on the apps
Verified badges in some regions
Priority support and early access to new features
The main selling point for this now is no ads
For Nigeria/Africa users This feature is EU-first for now. No official rollout in Africa yet , but Meta usually tests in EU/US before expanding to other regions
Will you pay to use this apps ad free ??
