take a walk and try to look busy?” She offered softly. “Or just stand here and plot his murder in your head for a while.” A beat passed. “I’m here for you, for either.”
The dogs that hadn’t bolted were down. A few had run. The rest lay twisted and still across the road, and the hush that fell over the clearing felt heavy. The group moved through that silence in a dazed shuffle: weapons checked, heads counted, people avoiding the gore in little -
Her little sister was here, there just couldn’t be that hesitation—those few seconds Maggie wanted to take, she couldn’t. Her bottom lip trembled slightly. The two sisters were like magnets in a way, when one moved, the other seemed to follow.
“Don’t let them bite you.”
Her voice was shaken but her next set of movements were strong, sturdy. Sure of herself as she went in with her knife. Doing what she had to do with one of the canines. Even if they were vicious and would attack their group just the same, something didn’t feel right about killing them. It almost felt like they were the dogs themselves.
She pulled back the knife back with ferocity. Ready to take on the next canine but there wasn’t the need. Her sister, her group were right alone her side. Some of the mutts actually had the sense to run off but the ones that hadn’t were now deceased on the pavement in front of them.

Green eyes darting over after confirming her sister unharmed, she was now glaring daggers at Rick who was now making the call to start a fire so they could potentially fry up ‘dinner’. It made Maggie’s stomach twist at the thought but they were also all so hungry.
Why did she blame Rick? The dogs were not his fault. She blamed the man for so much more and it was finally starting to come to a boiling point. Keeping her knife in her hand and tightening her grip it seemed. If she acted on the next few actions she would surely regret it. This was Rick. The man who their father trusted with keeping the two of them safe. The man who was still a father him own self, struggling to keep his own kids alive. Judith and Carl were right there. Just like before with the dogs, it seemed they only had a few seconds before Maggie would make her move.
“I’m going to kill him.”
Maggie’s words were whispered through clenched teeth. Beth might’ve been the only one to hear her as Glenn came over to check on them. Totally clueless about…well just about everything.
then nodded again and gave Maggie’s arm one last squeeze before heading off.
Beth waited for him to go before turning slightly toward her sister again. She kept her voice low, her stance loose but aware—ready to listen or prepared to walk, whatever Maggie needed.
“You wanna -
