Does anyone remember when Argentina played Nigeria in the 2018 World Cup? it ended in one of the most controversial refereeing displays in Nigerian football history but we don’t speak about it.
Lionel Messi fired Argentina ahead in the 14th minute, but Victor Moses answered back from the penalty spot in the 51st minute to put Nigeria on the brink of the knockouts.
Then came the 76th minute robbery. Marcos Rojo blatantly handled the ball in his own box. It was a stonewall penalty, but after looking at VAR, referee Cüneyt Çakır refused to give it.
When a furious John Obi Mikel demanded answers, the ref basically told him the call was above his pay grade admitting the ball hit Rojo's hand but just saying, "I don't know" why it wasn't a penalty.
Does anyone Remember?? 😂😂
Or Make I go find the video.
- robbed 4 ballon d'ors (lewandowski, sneijder, van dijk, and haaland)
- won a rigged world cup surrounded by biased officiating where your team received a record five penalties in a single tournament
- robbed the 2014 world cup golden ball
- received human growth hormone treatment, which gave you a long-term athletic advantage
- played for a club that paid millions to companies linked to negreira, the vice-president of spain's refereeing committee, during one of the most successful periods in its history
- benefited from controversial refereeing in major champions league ties, including chelsea (2009), real madrid (2011), and psg (2017) no name a few
“greatest of all time” my ass.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino personally went to Miami to publicly announce that Inter Miami had qualified for the Club World Cup. It was an arbitrary decision with no qualification criteria and the first time FIFA had ever announced a host club’s qualification in that manner for one of its own tournaments.
And people still tell us FIFA doesn’t favour Messi?
That insults our intelligence.
