“She was bleeding,” she said. “Why didn’t they do anything to help it along instead of wait for another ultrasound to confirm the baby is dead?”
Because violating the abortion ban can mean prison time. That’s why.

There is no “one-size fits all” in becoming a skilled communications officer. There is great value in having a team with diverse backgrounds and experiences!
National Telecommunicator Week!
Your local Renfrew 911 communicators come from a variety of backgrounds!
Educational Assistants, paramedics, business owners, firefighters, farmers, RNs - and everything in between!
If you’ve called 911 - they have helped you. If you’ve seen an ambulance or fire apparatus heading to an incident - they have informed them.
I hope you’ll join me in celebrating them all week long.
You might not know them… but I do! I have the extreme privilege of working with Renfrew County’s paramedic and fire communicators.
These women and men work, train, and commit 24/7 365 (this year 366!) to the honourable job of emergency public service.
This Valentine's Day, why not learn how to keep someone's ❤️ beating? Take a CPR course with your partner. Nothing says I love you more than being ready and willing to save their life.
Council reverses decision to outsource fire dispatch “potential cost savings weren't enough to risk not having local dispatchers with local knowledge and experience with city landmarks and neighbourhoods.”

I’ll be touting the benefits and strengths of local knowledge in dispatch centres forever and always.
Training and equipment take dispatchers part way, but the experiences of Renfrew’s dispatchers inside and outside of the centre make all the difference.
Local knowledge is tremendously important. If you called a larger centre from Renfrew County would they know where you are at the “back of the moon”, the old Renfrew Beach, 4-corners, or “the model homes on the highway, not the new ones - the old ones!”?
Seconds count! The Pembroke Fire Department (PFD) provides ice rescue for the City of Pembroke. If you don’t ask for the PFD right away, it could cause serious delays in response, putting lives in danger. When there’s a need for ice rescue, tell the operator you need the PFD 1st!
Congratulations to Communications Officer Emilie who coach the delivery of a healthy baby boy over the phone this week! She is being recognized with a blue stork pin. Well done!
ACOs are always working to increase bystander CPR with early detection and instruction delivery.
Excited to see how pilots like Frontenac’s Neighbours Saving Neighbours postively contribute as well.
Kudos to all programs getting AEDs to people quickly when seconds count.
Heart & Stroke is committed to doubling the cardiac arrest survival rate, increasing bystander CPR and AED use, and improving outcomes for those impacted by cardiac arrest including survivors, lay responders, and families.
