@JamesTalarico: America is not a Christian nation. It is a nation where you are free to be a Christian — or any other faith, or no faith at all.

The religious right would probably call the Founding Fathers ‘not real Christians’ given their beliefs. I think it's important that we remember our true history and we honor that that promise of America as a melting pot — E pluribus unum, out of many one.

It's a promise we obviously haven't ever fulfilled, but it is one that we're still trying to fulfill.
