The ABC Countdown to Summer! Today was “C is for Character” day. No one gave the librarian a cookie, which is probably for the best. Who knows what that might have led to! 😜 @CharihoRegional
The ABC Countdown to Summer has begun! Today was “B is for Beach” day. Classes went outside to spread out their towels and enjoy a good book in the sun! ❤️ @CharihoRegional
Blog entry about our very successful 2020 Virtual Rooster Games is posted! It was an absolute blast!!! @clareornburn @CharihoRegional @jscanapieco@SchLibRI#RICBA https://t.co/0C73k8W3QQ
Enjoyed a fabulous Virtual Rooster Games with 4th grade today! Charades and Scavenger Hunt were a huge hit, but all the games were well-received and the kids were SO awesome. (Congrats, Team Purple!) Blog entry to come; lots to say about an amazing day!!! #RICBA#RoosterGames
Wrapped up 12 after-school meetings with my Rooster Reading Club! We finished “A Pup Called Trouble” by @BobbiePyron just in time for Friday’s Rooster Games! They all earned another star on my reading chart, & we *loved* sharing this book! They were so sad to see it end! ❤️
Tonight I visited (from a distance!) with my fourth grade Champion Readers who read ALL 20 of this year’s RICBA nominees! I brought them their medals but they don’t get to open them until next week’s Rooster Games! Thanks, parents, for helping me arrange the surprise!
@LisaMacaruso @universityofri@thewesterlysun I was fortunate enough to work with her in the High-C program when she went to Richmond School. What a remarkable young lady. Loved reading this, thank you for sharing! ❤️
I started reading fairy tales w/ 1st grade! One element I introduced was “royalty” so I asked the students to draw or create a crown/throne. Their majesties await an audience! 👑 ❤️
I challenged my K students to create their own Thinking Caps after sharing Mo Willems’s “Amanda & Her Alligator”. Alligator wore his cap to figure out how to surprise his friend. Check out the incredible creativity! I wonder what these kids are cooking up!! 😁 #BrainPower
K loved “Goldilocks & the 3 Dinosaurs” and then they came up with their own versions. Goldi shared the spotlight with snails, pickles, emojis, 3D printers, goofy wolves, chickens, megalodons, puppies, unicorns, rabbits and hot dogs, just to name a few! 😂
Just posted a blog entry about a lesson on perspective that I did with 4th grade. I love sharing student work! Click on the link to see some terrific examples. Enjoy! @CharihoRegional @SchLibRI https://t.co/JPefEbZc8g
@librarianGMS @WriteTeachPlay It’s great! I’m doing an after school read aloud, and every meeting someone in Chat writes “it’s 3:30” which is followed by a bunch of students saying “don’t tell her”! 😂
BE THE MOUSE! Click below to view my blog entry about my year-long theme of PERSISTENCE and growth mindset! (Huge thanks to @codeorg for pointing me in the direction of the video that started it all!) @CharihoRegional https://t.co/82OKLnuqNf
@lccasey67 I’ve been recording read alouds to share and include a short Google form exit ticket at the end of each lesson. I’ve gotten some really nice feedback and it helps me feel more connected to the kids! 😊
I love seeing my students during my “please pop in” Google Meet times. Yesterday a 3rd grader showed me a page in her library book and said she’s mastered how to make origami frogs. She then proved it by teaching me how to make one! 😁 ❤️#RIReadsAtHome#SLRIReadsTogether
Happy May! It’s not April anymore but I’m going to share one more silly poem. Someone please illustrate this for me!! 😁 By Mason K: At night I saw a knight / He was drinking a Sprite / Then he took flight!
More silly poetry from 2nd grade! By Savannah: I have a pet penguin and his name is Bob / He really likes to eat corn on the cob / Bob also likes to ride his bike / He is best friends with a unicorn named Mike / They like to play in the pool and sometimes drool #PoetryMonth
To lift your spirits on this rainy day: I shared some @AlanKatzBooks with 2nd grade and challenged them to write their own silly poems. This kid made me LOL! “Shoes” by Brennan: I put on my shoes / They were new / I wore them outside & stepped in poo / Now I’m blue. #PoetryMonth
