I really don’t agree with this whole take. People just look like people. not everyone is going to fit your personal definition of attractive, but that doesn’t mean everyone complimenting them is lying or “gassing them up.” beauty is subjective and people can genuinely see someone as beautiful even if you personally don’t.

and the whole “most vtubers are chopped, that’s why we’re vtubers” thing is especially weird to me. vtubing is art, creativity, expression, performance, etc. and so much more than “I don’t want people to see my real face.” if that’s why YOU personally vtube fine, but projecting that onto an entire community is strange.

In my personal opinion it is far more hurtful to someone to lie to their face while giving them a fake compliment then to be completely real with them.

Hearing "nooo ur so beautiful bbgurl" every time you know for a FACT you are not a very conventionally attractive person makes you second guess if anyone ever means ANYTHING nice they say to you. That is a horribly crippling doubt to live with.

Most vtubers are chopped looking! That's why we are vtubers! Its okay aknowlege it. Lying to people's faces will be far more emotionally damaging in the long run then just telling them the truth.

Don't call yourself someone's friend if you care more about how your words and actions are perceived from the outside than how those words and actions affect that person's long term wellbeing.
