More news about the Disc situation with Playstation:
- Sony knew they would piss off fans and decided to step over them to show who decides the rules
- They sent out the most strict rules they possibly can to employees
- Employees are not allowed to adress fans no matter how they feel. There are serious consequences
- Sony won't back down no matter how many fans they lose
Playstation is so desperate for good PR that they've called in the Game Journalists to defend them because literally nobody else will, not even console fanboys. Pathetic.
48 years ago today, SNK was originally founded as Shin Nihon Kikaku Corporation. The company is known for being the developers & publishers of various fighting game franchises, including Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, The Last Blade, Art of Fighting, etc.

We've seen Alanah Pearce' comment about Sony putting out a gagging order on its employees. And it is very telling for what is going on!
First, we can say that it checks out with what we have heard from behind the scenes. Initially there were a lot of discussions about Sony's attack on physical media. Then, several days after the announcement the chats just went quiet over night. Nobody even reacted to the topic or things remotely connected to it anymore. Like they were all struck by a giant censorship hammer.
In our opinion, this clearly shows several things.
One, Sony desperately wants to control the narrative. They anticipated the backlash. They fear the backlash.
Subsequently, two, this proves that they don't have a leg to stand on. Their justification for the move to kill physical media and push everyone into an all-digital dystopia is not based on reality. The reason they gave is bogus. We already talked about this before when we looked at the numbers and explained that the bigger picture is much more than "consumer trends".
But the most important thing is, three, that they know killing physical media will literally hurt everyone in and around the games industry in some way. EVERBODY has a good reason to be angry and concerned. Retailers have already spoken up. Developers have already spoken up (not only because the backlash harms their marketing, but because it harms motivation, discoverability and an additional stream of revenue), preservationists have spoken up, media has spoken up, gamers have spoken up.
The only thing that carries Sony is a large part of the audience that hasn't gotten the message yet. But more and more do. Once a critical mass of casual gamers understand that Sony will exploit them even more for profit in the future, that this decision will come with severe downsides even for those who didn't care before, it can turn the tide.
This message control wouldn't be necessary, if their decision would be for the better. In that case, they could easily justify it in public. But they do the opposite. That's all you need to know to continue the backlash and make as many people as you can aware of the consequences.
If you needed more proof that this IS NOT GOING AWAY, here you go.
Sony tried to pay off media outlets to make it look like the outrage was dying down.
It didn’t work.
They have to answer to investors on September 30th.
Hopefully the CEO and execs get axed.
Keep fighting!
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the latest game to grace the cover of Game Informer 👹
We traveled to Capcom's Osaka HQ to play never-before-seen parts of the game, interview the team, and learn how and why the studio is bringing back this series after a 20-year hiatus. https://t.co/Q71ZjAzuaD

It's Ryu's birthday today! 🎂
The answer may lie in the heart of battle, but even the mightiest of World Warriors deserves to take time off from the fight to celebrate their big day! 🐉
Interesting insights from the Spanish games market. Digital sales there were less than 62 % in 2025 even with DLC, subscriptions and all that stuff included on the digital side. Make of that what you will.

Have seen this going around and feel it needs to be said
- Data is US Only
- 100K is the low end, titles like Resident Evil Requiem sold more than that physically
- Physical has been selling less than digital for awhile now, that doesnt mean we should accept less consumer rights
Disgusting behaviour by the Argentinians at the end, especially Paredes.
Just a bunch of nasty violent thugs, and a disgrace to football. Never been so happy to see a team lose.
Sony’s decision to stop making physical PlayStation game discs is still causing major backlash and is now overshadowing one of its biggest games.
The new Marvel’s Wolverine trailer is being obliterated in the comments. It now has more than 10,000 comments on YouTube, with many fans ignoring the trailer and using it to protest Sony’s move away from physical games.
Some top comments say: “We want physical games.”
“You know who isn’t the hero? The kller of physical.”
Ironically, Marvel’s Wolverine will still launch with a physical PS5 edition.
