“I want to tell you about something we did last year that we haven't spoken about much.

At every Kumbh in the past, on average 25,000 people get seperated from their families. Most often, they are children. It must be heart-wrenching, to be at the most sacred gathering of your life, reach for your child's hand, and find nothing there.

At the Purna Maha Kumbh in January 2025, we got an opportunity to do something about this. In collaboration with Dentsu Creative & Falco Robotics, we built Garuda Rakshak — Garud-shaped drones that could locate a missing child even where no mobile network could reach, and guide rescuers to them. It wasn’t a campaign. There was nothing to sell. We just felt it was something we wanted to do.

When the first child was found and reunited with their family, everyone involved felt something shift inside them. That's the only way I can describe it.

Then the recognitions came. Garudrakshak won a Cannes Lion and multiple Kyoorious elephants – some of the most prestigious awards in the world for the creation of effective impact. Garud Rakshak was not envisioned for an award. We had done it because countless families had been through something no family should go through, and DSP’s mission is to improve lives.

Last week Garud Rakshak added 6 of Asia Pacific’s highest advertising honours to our other wins. Including the award we are most proud of – The Lotus Root which recognizes work that preserves and celebrates the rich heritage and value of each local culture.

The awards are not the story. The story is a child finding their way back home. That's what we want you to carry.

I often say that we are a fund home, and not a fund house, because of the trust placed in us by investors like you. This trust is what makes it possible for us to be this kind of fund home.

12 years ago, I lived near a dump in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi. There were often cockroaches in my house.

To go to office, I would walk to Akshardham Metro station. And, the line would often stretch (sometimes) even outside the station during peak office hours.

To beat this traffic, I used to leave early. I carried a book. Read 1 book every week standing/sitting in a metro. That's how I learnt to read fast.

Stayed back at my office for as long as possible & prepared for GMAT (so that I didn't have to come back home to a dump). And, I ended up getting a 99th%ile, highest achievable score.

I had no real plans of applying to study abroad. I just couldn't afford it (I wanted to but couldn't afford). But, I knew, if I aced the GMAT, I could teach foreign clients who would pay well.

99th percentile score gave that ticket. So I started teaching: how to ace the GMAT. And, I moved to a better place.

Life started changing bit by bit: my student (who was applying for an Executive MBA) encouraged me to apply abroad. So I did. And, got into some of the best programs with scholarships.

At 26, I took my first international flight. And, I moved to Singapore. I saw what better life was. No one in my family had even travelled abroad.

Here is the most important lessons I learnt along the way:-

You are responsible for your own life. The day you start assigning responsibility to others to improve "your" life, is the day you lose control.

Our brains are massively powerful: they work like compass, if you convince it to achieve something, it will figure out a way.

This is Aswini and Anish, two IT professionals who were returning home in Pune on May 19 when an unregistered Porsche, driving at 150 km/h in Kalyani Nagar, hit them. One of them died on the spot, and the other died during medical treatment.

The driver of the car was a 17-year-old minor, allegedly returning from a club after partying with friends to celebrate their 12th-grade results.

Why this is not just an accident but a murder:

1. The car was unregistered; the showroom delivered the car without registration.
2. The parents allowed a minor to drive without a license.
3. The club owner served alcohol and admitted a minor.
4. The traffic police failed to notice an unregistered, overs-peeding car on the road for months.

When the minor was arrested at midnight, he received VIP treatment. A local MLA came to his rescue, with a team of lawyers.

The bail condition was that he should write an essay, and his parents should ensure he doesn't repeat the same mistake.

The prediction came out bang on target. (Kabhi kabhi hum bhi lucky ho jate hai/ sometimes I become lucky) India’s weight has more than doubled from 8.2 % in Feb 18 to 18.2 % in Feb 24. China’s weight has reduced from 30.3 % in Feb 18 to 25.4 % in Feb 24.
