We did that.
Today, 24 @Everytown Survivor Fellows who have been impacted by gun violence of all kinds came together from all across the country in Washington, DC to meet with their federal representatives and ensure that gun violence prevention is a top priority for Congress.🧵
If you’re ready to be a part of the movement of Americans working to #EndGunViolence, join us by texting READY to 644-33 & join a local @MomsDemand Chapter.
Each aspect of the day - from the early morning shuttle bus ride with @Everytown Survivor Fellows to the closing remarks from @POTUS - filled my heart & soul with hope and reminded me why, after 10 yrs of doing this work, I’m not slowing down.
“What is really changing here is young people are joining this movement.” - @senblumenthal
Our generation is a powerful force for change, and together, WE WILL #ENDGUNVIOLENCE!
Proud that we have so many
@Everytown
Survivor Fellows in attendance today at the #SaferCommunitiesSummit. Those directly impacted by gun violence should always be at the table when we are discussing progress & solutions to the gun violence prevention movement ♥️
Thank you @Nelba_MG for your grounding words of wisdom as we embark on a powerful day at the #SaferCommunitiesSummit to reflect on how far we’ve come since the 1yr passage of the federal #BipartisanSaferCommunityAct. We are with you from the gasp until the ode to joy.

One of many highlights for me was this beautiful moment between Arry & @SenatorWarnock after thanking him for his tireless efforts to pass sensible gun safety measures at the federal level. I'm beyond grateful for courageous leaders like this who fight to keep Americans safe.
Met today with gun violence survivors from our district and @Everytown to hear their stories and discuss how Congress is working to take on the epidemic of gun violence.
on the back of my dress I wore to testify against the anti-drag bill were the names of lbgtqia+ hate groups Protect Texas Kids and Defend Our Kids but in reference to what must be done to actually protect Texas kids: defend our kids from gun violence and restrict guns, not drag.
NOW: Our volunteers are proudly standing with @POTUS, who has led the strongest gun safety White House in history. Watch live: https://t.co/Zd7rPEFFv5

Bonus highlight of watching @POTUS speak today: catching up w longtime @Everytown Survivor Fellow @ampentz 💕 over the years Adriana has advocated tirelessly and in innovative ways for gun violence prevention in honor of her brother Luc-John, who died by firearm suicide in 2017.
With folks from @MomsDemand & @Everytown waiting for @POTUS to give remarks addressing the proposed 22% cut by House Rs to the budget which would cut veteran’s healthcare, education, public safety, & more while protecting tax cuts for the rich.

It’s National Gun Violence Survivors Week & I’m sharing my story to remind fellow survivors they aren’t alone.
There isn’t 1 path to becoming a survivor, gun violence comes in many different forms, and the trauma it creates impacts us all.
