"I am honoured to have served as the Chairperson of the Summit. It is my hope that the progress registered during South Africaโs tenure will provide a solid foundation to move us forward." The second group of South African writers arrived in Turkey ๐น๐ท en route to Venezuela, I removed myself and a few officials from the list to make space for more writers & this is how things will be going forward at @SportArtsCultur
โDie Stem is part of who we were and who we've become you cannot pinpoint some issues. we must protect the national anthemโ @GaytonMcK
โDie stem is being included is such an expression of how far we've come as a nation. We will not be ashamed to say we support Die Stem being part of the National anthemโ Sports Arts and Culture minister Gayton Mckenzie
@GaytonMcK@SportArtsCultur GNU's best-performing Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture removed himself and other officials from a list of writers going to Venezuela to pave the way for more writers.
He is setting a classic example of how ministries should be led.

I have decided to take the public into confidence and advise South Africa that at least R300 million has been stolen from the department in the last 10 years in an elaborate scheme by cyber-hackers, and potentially officials within the department. It is unthinkable that this has gone on for so long without being noticed. In order to build trust with South Africans, we must be transparent about the problems we face us. We will ensure that financial controls are tightened and we hold those responsible accountable for their actions. I will continue to update you when more information becomes available. #LetsBuildSA
We will not be deterred, this is not your money, this is not my money, this is public money and the public must know who got money from them. @SportArtsCultur must show that they were there for artist during the worst times and also expose those that misused the opportunity.
We already have people who came forward that didnโt receive money nor applied but are listed as having received. We have people not aligned to the arts who received money, we saw people who are not from SA benefitting. Wait & see after all lists has been released today & tomorrow.
@GaytonMcK@SportArtsCultur Breath of fresh air Mr Minister @GaytonMcK! I must admit, I had my doubts at first but you are slowly changing my mind! keep this up!
