@JuneAnn_RN While I was able to acquire some new resources to use in the classroom, I feel there is still a lot to learn about teaching online even after teaching online for almost a year. As with any career in nursing or education, there are always new things to learn. #DistEd534
@SteveG16883702 Steve, I agree. Too many educators were thrown in an online learning environment with little to no training due to COVID. I think it should be required to complete training especially knowing online learning is here to stay. #DistEd534

#DistEd534 Here is the link to the escape room myself and a colleague created if you would like to explore it. The content is on asepsis and infection control for a sophomore level Foundations of Nursing class. https://t.co/mON4sOZ9lX
@Pdrumm4@NurseCharly1 I addition to writing an introduction, many educators are now recording video introductions. This helps to personal the class more and helps to make a visual connection with students as well. #DistEd534
@SteveG16883702 I have done the same Steve and think that we miss the personal touches an in-person class gives us. I have found it harder for students to reach out when they are having issues because of this as well. #DistEd534
@SteveG16883702 I feel like I have spent more time preparing for online learning versus learning in the classroom. Over time, once you have a course solidified though, I can see it taking the same or less time than online. #DistEd534
@SteveG16883702 Having an online instructor may also save the college money by not having a tenure track position or having to pay benefits and retirement. It can also help if faculty at the campus do not want to teach online, but have students who wish to complete online classes. #DistEd534
@SteveG16883702 For schools forced to use the online platform, they may have realized this is something to continue. I also think for schools it can be more cost effective over time. #DistEd534
@Courtne86192522 I really enjoyed our audio or video responses over the written responses. It is just more personal and makes you feel more connected to the classmates you do not get to actually see when completing courses online. #DistEd534
@SherryRomanosk2 Hi Sherry, we made one for our asepsis and infection control lecture for Foundations of Nursing. We set up a patient scenario and students have to make it through each "room" in order to out of the patient room infection free. #DistEd534
@veronicaDistEd I think two in the initial response to the discussion, but then after that maybe one additional reference to a response, followed by responses without references so students interact more. #DistEd534
