"I was born to Pakistani parents but grew up in London. My journey with the Quran began early, thanks to my grandma. She was the one who taught me how to read the Quran. Sometimes our lessons would last for four hours until I got it right! In 2009, a significant chapter in my life came to a close when my dear grandmother passed away. Her absence left a void, and I turned to the Quran because I knew my reading would bring her reward. Sadly, as the years passed and life grew busier, my connection with the Quran began to slip away. I tried various methods to read it daily, even resorting to my trusty iPad. I read it daily for an entire year, but then stopped again.
I then tried a second tactic which failed miserably too. I got three translations of the Quran, one for work, one for my bag, and one for home, ensuring that it was always within arm's reach. Little did I realize that the Quran had always been on my phone. I experimented with many Quran apps but found none that truly matched my needs, especially as a self-proclaimed lazy person. I thought of creating my own app, but my motivation quickly died when a developer quoted a staggering $50,000 for the project.
Then, one evening, I stumbled upon a book detailing an experiment involving three groups of people striving to incorporate more exercise into their lives. The group that achieved the most success were those who wrote down when and how much exercise they would do. I decided to re-attempt to make this app, even if it meant burning through all my savings and borrowing money from family and friends. I just wanted to make something that would help me read the Quran every day.
Three years later, the app reached over 1 million downloads.
Thousands of users now read the Quran every single day without missing a day. I pray my grandma gets the reward of every single letter read from the app. I still have to pinch myself when I go on the app and see a thousand people reading live. I pray that this story can inspire anyone reading this to bring the Quran into their everyday life, as it did for me. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I missed a day of Quran, Alhamdulillah." - Esa Khan, Founder.
Retweet this so you can inspire others to start reading Quran.
P.S. For those asking in the comments, the app is called @QuranlyApp
O Allah! Protect and comfort the people of Palestine. Ease their pain and suffering. Calm their hearts amid the turmoil and devastation. Grant them a swift end to the decades of oppression and suffering. Grant them the victory they deserve. Aameen.
To fail does not make you a failure. It teaches and reminds you that the Almighty’s plan is better than yours. His plan always prevails. He’ll send you signs and redirect you.
Almighty. Protect us from the greed of our own soul. You know how we’re constantly struggling against worldly pleasures, hypocrisy & insincerity, hatred & envy, arrogance & pride etc. Help us to purify our hearts against such evil traits which Satan has beautified.
Some people keep cursing their fate, wondering why it’s always them who have to suffer. Why is the Almighty always testing me? Why is He rewarding those who sin with more wealth? The truth is each one of us is tested differently. He knows what He’s doing. Press on.
