I write about #agile & the business of #software. Some are stories, some satire. Been a developer | product manager | coach | consultant | & project monkey.
Dear Mr. Boss Man,
Sometimes in life, you just have to jump right into it. This is one of those times. One of those “do-or-die” situations, as important people like you say. So, let me get straight down to it.
#Agile not working for you?🧵
Why is your outage map always so out of date @XcelEnergyCO You cut off power every 3 months. Can’t you even update your website!!!! Either you are terrible at what you do or you just don’t give a shit.
@XcelEnergyCO@BoulderOEM Why are you so bad at communicating when the power will be back so we can plan our lives @XcelEnergyCO? And why are your outage maps so lousy? Can’t put together an IT team?
A trap I see many agile coaches falling into - we are so used to working in massive enterprise I.T. departments, when we finally do get our hands on a small, nimble, flexible company, we want to reimage them in the form of the big enterprise.
Unfortunately it is a lot easier to purchase than to practice. So what exactly to you think people are going to do here...
We will make a lot more progress if we account for how people are going to behave and our systems around it.
My second step will be waiting for you. Just like the first one, it will be far more useful and much less expensive than all the experts you have been paying for.
Also, it definitely won’t be another #Agile#framework.
Yours Truly,
A.

Do it with class though. Steal all the staplers. Sleep with all your underlings. Do a doo-doo under someone’s desk. Whatever your heart desires, go for it. Quit your job and come back.
