I don't know any professional who doesn't use ChessBase. I also don't know any professional who doesn't have complaints about it.
I use ChessBase. Spent at least $500 and would have spent more if the features they promised actually worked. I remember when they introduced the cloud database function. I immediately upgraded, so my second and I could simultaneously add variations without sending each other PGNs.
Guess what? When he analyzed it, I couldn't see it. When I did, he couldn't. I complained. No fix. We went back to sending PGNs.
I didn't learn my lesson. I upgraded again when they introduced mining opening variations. Guess what? Didn't work properly either. Haven't upgraded since.
It's incomprehensible to me. You have complete market domination where even unhappy customers like me can't leave, and you don't innovate? How is there still no MacBook version? Maybe now that they've been sold, this will change.
Anyhow, the moral of the story: this frustration made me incredibly happy when we were polishing ChessEver Desktop. I was finally able to create the analysis board I actually wanted.

JohnOliver’s rants seem really smart and well thought-out until he does a segment on something you know a lot about; the jokes are then far less funny and he sounds like a moron
@nigelshortchess The problem with removing the stalemate rule is that the position- W:Kf4,h4 B:Kf6,h5 with Black to play is now losing! (Unless that’s the point)
