In a major decision, the Maharashtra government has officially included 23 villages within the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) through a notification issued on February 11, 2026. With this move, the Special Planning Authority for these villages has been cancelled, and PMC will now act as the single planning authority for development, building permissions, infrastructure and civic services.

The newly included areas include Sus, Bavdhan (Bk), Kirkatwadi, Pisoli, Nanded, Khadakwasla, Narhe, Manjari Budruk, Wagholi and other fast-growing villages around the city. The decision aims to bring better planning, improved water supply, drainage, roads, waste management and other basic facilities. Citizens are now waiting to see how quickly services and development reach these areas.

Pune Grand Tour: Educational Institutions to Remain Closed on 19 January

As part of the Pune Grand Tour 2026, an international cycling race scheduled for Monday, 19 January 2026, several major roads of Chhatrapati Shivajinagar, including Fergusson College Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, University Road, Karve Road, and adjoining arterial routes will be used for the event, resulting in traffic restrictions across these areas.

In the interest of public safety and the smooth conduct of the race, District Collector Shri Jitendra Dudi has declared that all schools, colleges, and educational institutions in the affected parts of Pune city will remain closed on that day.

Citizens are requested to plan their travel in advance and extend full cooperation to help make this global sporting event a success for Pune.
