Community update on $RIO:

For the past 3 weeks, we’ve been in active discussions with Taman Safari Indonesia working toward a structure that would allow the zoo to directly benefit from the success of $RIO.

The zoo was exploring both a dedicated charity initiative and a direct wallet solution that would allow creator fees to support Rio and broader conservation efforts. Throughout the entire process, we’ve done everything possible to make this easy. We’ve been transparent, cooperative, and focused on one thing: getting these funds into the hands of the people helping care for Rio.

A few days ago, the zoo launched the “A Gift for Baby Rio” fundraiser and we immediately contributed. At the same time, another coin appeared that somehow managed to establish a closer line of communication with individuals connected to the zoo. Whether that was due to geography, language, or local relationships, we don’t know. What we do know is that the project has an extremely concentrated supply and does not represent the work we’ve been doing over the past several weeks.

The way I look at it, we’re the only real Rio coin.

Anyone promoting the other coin received free supply. Nobody who understands blockchain analytics is going to seriously push a token with the majority of supply bundled into a handful of wallets. That concentration creates a risk that hangs over the project at all times and makes it impossible to build long-term trust.

Meanwhile, we’ve spent weeks building an actual community, working directly with the zoo, donating to Rio’s fundraiser, and trying to create a structure that benefits conservation rather than insiders.

We aren’t interested in drama. We aren’t interested in fighting.

What matters is Rio.

The zoo is currently reviewing the situation and we respect that process. While that review takes place, we have permanently reserved 1% of the supply for the zoo and will continue working toward a solution that allows them to benefit directly if and when they choose to move forward with us.

Going forward, creator fees will be used to buy back and lock $RIO. These tokens will be held for two purposes: to provide additional tokens to the zoo if and when they choose to work with us, and to fund future marketing efforts that help grow awareness around Rio and the community we’ve built.

The community believes this is the best way to create long-term value while keeping the door open for a future partnership with the zoo.

At the end of the day, this is a community decision. We’ve presented the facts. We’ve put in the work. We’ve stayed committed from day one.

One thing I know for certain:

Moo Deng wasn’t endorsed by the zoo.

P’Nut wasn’t endorsed by the ower.

Neither were many of the biggest animal runners we’ve seen.

The strongest communities always outlast the noise.

There used to be times where anything sub 50k was considered basically free, you could hold for weeks on end and the tokens ran to 10-50m if they had strong narratives.

Honestly the lore just got 10x better for the OG. After we spent 3 weeks building a actual community and communicating with the zoo they end up getting tricked into soft shilling a 1day old 70% bundled farm that all the top holders and top traders are linked to the dev. We donated $500+ to the zoo and they took the money and ignored us after 3 weeks of talking and explaining everything to them.
