"My next guest needs no introduction" is a phrase I repeat a lot. But part of the fun of this media game is introducing you to creatives you may not otherwise hear about.
@AsiaSimone405 made a splash early this year with Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur: Wreck and Roll. One look through her portfolio, and you can see her influences include some of the greatest animation from both Eastern AND Western cultures. And while her whimsical style has primarily been marketed to younger readers, there's an appeal that fans of all ages can get behind.
So I'm happy to share today's conversation about cartoons, creativity, and navigating a career as both a comic artist and a full time teacher. Check it out:

It's this weekend, aggghhhhhg!
Here's where you can find me among the insanity!
I'm really excited to do a drawing workshop with fellow Moon Girl artist @AsiaSimone405. Come hear us talk and learn some tips and tricks along the way!
Random Anime/Cartoon Hills To Die On # 1:
Sakura is an amazing character and is a perfect t example of awful writing vs awful character. She is a very cool and impressive character in Naruto and I wish her story was written better 😭😭😭😭😭
All art industries struggle when it comes to the respect artists deserve but something about the way ppl constantly disrespect animators is very….. concerning… like I feel there should be a dissertation about it….
why are animation fans dunking on ppl for the shows they've worked on? like... the point of this is to hl the real artist who deserve fair wages/treatment, and who put their heart and soul into their work? like?? idc how you feel about a property, our labour matters regardless?
I really love the older one piece style. It was so charming. Only thing I’m interested in regarding the updating is how the animation and lighting decisions like we see here might make scenes more impactful
@PAWDrawsart I get that sentiment. I love it for the fight scenes which is where they put most of that type of detail in. My biggest issue weirdly enough is that there are not enough wide shots anymore. Like so often are we so zoomed into a character that we don’t get to enjoy the scenery 1/2
@berriebombz Yeah which is deeply concerning. Kids don’t have their own spaces let a lot their own digital entertainment that actually lasts more than 2 years…0
