Great job by our @NYPD25Pct members, but this arrest could have ended much differently. @NYCCouncil’s “diaphragm law” forces cops to try to control a suspect w/o touching the torso. When that fails, it’s a dangerous situation for all involved. Especially when suspect has a GUN.
4 years ago today we lost Detective Steven McDonald. He was not only a hero to every member of the NYPD, but to all NYers. Det. McDonald preached a message of peace and compassion to which we all aspire. He is survived by his wife Patti Ann and son Conor, an NYPD Sgt.

On Saturday we laid to rest @NYPDTransit Deputy Inspector James Vaccaro (ret.) who valiantly served the city for over 31 years.

Last week, officers from the @NYPD110Pct responded to a call involving multiple firearms. They were able to secure a search warrant for the location, safely recovered these guns, and quickly placed the suspect under arrest, helping to keep the community safe from gun violence.
