MORE REPORTS of schools boards having to cut dozens of staff in schools, which will directly impact students!
School boards are dealing with serious funding “uncertainties" as the province has left them underfunded for years 😡 It's not fair to balance budgets at the expense of student learning. We need a government that will truly prioritize students and their education. #OSSTF #OntEd

On January 7th, 2025 I shared a video, after I was asked to call UnitedHealthcare from the operating room to answer administrative questions about the patient who was having surgery to treat breast cancer. Despite my efforts, they denied her stay.
UnitedHealthcare didn’t stop at calling me during surgery. Now, they’ve sent me a legal threat—and even worse? They ended up denying my cancer patient’s hospital stay. Exactly what I was afraid would happen.
Staying overnight after major surgery isn’t optional—it’s medically necessary. But UnitedHealthcare decided they know better than the doctors caring for the patient.
When they called me while I was operating, I knew that if I didn’t step out and respond immediately, they might deny her stay—leaving her with a massive bill. So, with another surgeon in the OR, I scrubbed out and called them back. But after all of that? They denied her stay anyway.
And instead of fixing their broken system, they sent me a legal threat for speaking out.
I’m sharing their response in full, letting their words speak for themselves.
Let me be clear: I stand by everything I said. I told the truth. I was honest about what’s happening in our healthcare system. And I will not be silenced by legal threats when it comes to advocating for my patients and my ability to care for them.
Denying an overnight stay that a doctor orders is dangerous. The doctor caring for the patient should be able to make these decisions without delay, pressure, or harassment.
If I don’t speak up, I lose—my integrity, my voice, and the opportunity to make a difference. And while it’s intimidating to receive a letter like this from a company as powerful as UnitedHealthcare, I know where I stand.
I am a woman taking care of women affected by breast cancer. I do this work with all of my heart, and I will continue to speak up for my patients—because they deserve better.
I ask you to follow along, share this story, and have these conversations in your own communities. I know I’m not the only one dealing with this, and real change will take all of us telling our stories and standing up for what’s right.
I’m here for it. Are you?
Premier Ford reiterates his promise to build a 50 kilometre tunnel under the 401 - a fantastically expensive project. Meanwhile, Ontario won't let Bracebridge, Minden and Thessalon keep their community hospitals? The kids are hungry and dad's brought home a case of beer.
The deal is done.
The Liberals are too weak, too selfish and too beholden to corporate interests to stop the Conservatives and their plans to cut. But the NDP can.
Big corporations and CEOs have had their governments. It's the people's time.

Great rally today at Lakeridge Health, protesting 60 jobs slashed at hospitals serving one of the fastest growing regions in Ontario, saddled with a $25 m deficit thanks to Ford government cuts. Town Hall meeting in Oshawa April 15 to organize the community.
There is a big gap in Canada's employment insurance system. Mothers like Katie who get laid off shortly after a maternity leave don't qualify for EI benefits. It's blatantly unfair. #CDNpoli

We’ve had the same Premier for over a year.
The same group around the Cabinet table for years.
The same political party as govt for 4+ years.
And NOTHING has improved in healthcare for the same amount of time.

Covid isn’t a small potatoes health risk. It causes a 1900% increase in risk of heart attack, stroke or pulmonary embolism in the week after infection. After a year, that risk is still 30% higher than baseline.
@ArielTroster Next time remind him we’re out of milk. My husband has people take photos of him all the time when he wears shorts (and sandals) in the snow. 🙄
Thousands rallying at Queens Park in Toronto do keep #healthcare public! Billions of surplus available in budget but @fordnation is starving #PublicHealthcare and pushing privatization as the solution to his crisis. We don’t buy it!
