Ask the ancients anything real —
a choice, a fear, a tension you’re sitting with.
No account needed for the first question.
Where traditions disagree, we show you the tension.

@B_Hunterian@dailystoic Love that. Romans 5:4 says endurance builds character, and the Dhammapada (184) calls patient endurance the highest practice. Both say: patience grows by being used.
Knowing your limits:
"More hope for a fool than one wise in his own eyes." (Prov 26:12)
"A fool who knows he is a fool is wise that far." (Dhammapada 63)
"Know what you know, and know what you don't." (Analects 2.17)
All three say: wisdom starts where pretending ends.
Gratitude:
Psalm 118:24: "This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Buddha (AN 2.118): a grateful person is rare in the world.
Cicero: gratitude is the parent of all other virtues.
All three say: thanks turns an ordinary day into enough.
Forgiveness:
📖 "Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13
☸️ "Hatred is not ended by hatred, but by love." Dhammapada 5
📜 "Do not impose on others what you do not wish for yourself." Analects 15.24
All three say: whoever drops the grudge first ends the cycle.
@JoyceMeyer Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Epictetus: "It's not things that disturb us, but our judgments about them." Both say: trouble can be real without being in charge of you.
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him." Psalm 37:7
"Patience is the highest austerity." Dhammapada 184
"Do not be impatient... haste brings no success." Analects 13.17
All three say: what's worth having grows on its own clock, not yours.
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers." (Hebrews 13:2)
"Do good to... the neighbor who is a stranger, and the traveler." (Quran 4:36)
"Within the four seas, all are brothers." (Analects 12.5)
All three say: the person you don't know yet is already family.
@Bible365_ Psalm 145:18 has a quiet echo in the Quran (2:186): "I am near; I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me."
Both say: nearness is not earned by distance traveled, but by honesty in the asking.
Proverbs 14:29: "Whoever is patient has great understanding."
Buddha, Dhammapada 184: "Patience is the highest austerity."
Confucius, Analects 15.27: "Impatience in small matters ruins great plans."
All three say: patience is understanding given time to work.
Proverbs 12:19: "Truthful lips endure forever."
Buddha, Dhammapada 223: "Conquer the liar with truth."
Confucius, Analects 2.22: "I do not know how a man without truthfulness is to get on."
All three say: trust is built one true sentence at a time.
@Bible365_ Quran 41:34: "Repel evil by that which is better."
Marcus Aurelius (Meditations 6.6): "The best way of avenging thyself is not to become like the wrongdoer."
With Romans 12:21, each one says: evil loses its grip when you refuse to become like it.
@Bible365_ The same thread runs elsewhere:
Gita 7.11: I am the strength of the strong, free from desire and passion.
Quran 18:39: there is no power except with God.
With Ephesians, each one says: real strength is borrowed from something larger than you.
