I learned about the ways modern medicine can catalyze mental health crises the hard way. Wrote about it too. The generous responses I've received from other health care professionals who've experienced something similar tell me it's more widespread than people think.
Getting mental health care can be shameful and a career killer for a physician. That needs to change.
We also know that COVID has neuropsychiatric effects but do not acknowledge that in return to work criteria. That needs to change.
