@chillrobp42@JayDanielsMVP Yeah could have had Kyle Hamilton and Christian Gonzalez. But our run stopping was so bad last season, I don’t think you could pass up anything that helped that out.
@kevinsheehanDC@team980 JD is an elite NFL QB talent. One trait I didn’t hear mentioned is his intelligence, how quickly he picks up concepts, and can execute them. In 2024 there was lots of discussion about Kliff’s ability to accelerate his concepts because JD could handle it.
@kevinsheehanDC My one criticism is we seemed to be a bit scared of injuries and held back too much. It caused us to look like the worst team of the 32. Doesn’t matter to most who was suiting up. I think that’s the rub - and it’s understandable for casual fans
@kevinsheehanDC Kevin in your argument about the truth of pre-season football you fail to distinguish between a casual fan and a football enthusiast. Thom is a casual fan and most don’t understand the strategies a team could deploy in preseason.
@AndrewAdMan@JPFinlayNBCS You can’t say that because they don’t prepare and they aren’t scheming with the starters. This is a mask everything and protect everybody mentality so it’s going to produce results like this. It stinks but we gotta see how was 1-3 go…
@DrummingPiperJ@JPFinlayNBCS Naw. Games do matter to fans and our perception but there’s no incentive for teams with big injuries to take more risks. That’s the issue. We do have some holes to plug but have guys coming back soon that should help. AP is not done.
@cpegg818@JPFinlayNBCS But flip it - the Ravens don’t either so why are they looking so much better? The games don’t matter but it feels like the Ravens have more to be confident about heading into wk 1 than we do.
@JPFinlayNBCS They don’t but if you are going to play them we should have a bit more pride than that. We look timid and cautious like we are trying not to get any more injuries.
@thomloverro Tommy, Tommy… I think it’s more accurately the aura of fear… we stopped risking players to injury, played timid, and too cautiously. When you put that in guys heads they can’t go all out and execute the way they practice. Hope we can flip a switch before gm1
@john_keim I think the reality of the preseason is causing our sentiments here. We want to see improvement. But the coach approached the games timid and afraid of more injuries and this is the outcome of this mindset.
@GrantPaulsen I’ll say this. Every team is in the same boat. While preseason doesn’t matter, for Baltimore to look this strong with their backups compared to how we looked with ours gives you a look at their depth and quality of talent. We have some soft spots.
@NickiJhabvala Nicki are you able to perceive that the team and management feel any pressure here? Seems it was a mistake to be so casual about the center slot. Was Tyler B., that much of a liability?
@NickiJhabvala The real question is why didn’t JD5’s camp handle this privately with the school? Had they done that there would be nothing to ask. But since they didn’t it’s a public story and the questions will go well into the season. Can’t be mad at the media for doing their jobs.
@kevinsheehanDC Kevin, I heard you and several others discuss the reason you should play starters. I don’t disagree. But I think if you do it and are tentative or hesitant, and the players know it, they probably play more tense and that’s counterproductive.
@thomloverro One more thought Tommy - I don’t feel Brian Kelly is getting enough of the blame for making verbal promises, lying g to lure recruits, when he was operating as the voice of the team on the school’s behalf. JD was lied to and that matters here.
