It was amusing to come across a letter allegedly written by a member of Mogadishu’s parliament to U.S. Congressman @RepScottPerry, addressing his introduction of H.R. 10402, a bill advocating for the recognition of the Republic of #Somaliland.

It is important to note that this letter originates from an unelected parliament that lacks any legal constituency. It is also widely known that the members of this body are unable to visit or address issues within any constituency they claim to represent. In reality, they are largely confined to a heavily fortified compound in Mogadishu.

Moreover, there are well-documented cases of a significant number of these so-called “MPs” pledging allegiance not to the state they purport to represent, but to the terrorist organization Al-Shabaab.

Given these circumstances, any claims or positions put forward by this parliament should not be taken seriously.
