@gynvael I have IDE set to display block comments and xmldoc as non-monospace - it’s supposed to not be code, and having different font makes it stand out better than just color.
@brungarc@ne_skazu Because they are good now, but who knows what will happen in few years? 3rd party libs get abandoned, change licensing model, change (or not) their own dependencies that may or may not conflict - all that is a risk you need to deal with.
@brungarc@yopez83@MrMatthewLayton With your own abstraction, it is the only part you need to change if you're forced to stop using this library. Injecting it directly forces you to change and rebuild every place it is used.
We had long history of good libraries suddenly becoming unusable, better safe than sorry.
@BartoszMilewski “Death is a natural end of life, denying it is wrong.” “God didn’t create humans to be immortal.” and so on, probably - if instead of curing cancer someone managed to “cure death”.
@BartWronsk@biovf Usually because idle time means you could have more done and scale up the gameplay/effects. If gameplay or visuals justify it, I don’t mind.
@YoImMoon@JezCorden Exclusive sucks in general. Yet at this point, and given Sony's recent push towards exclusives even more I wouldn't mind MS going with ultimatum - all big releases are cross platform, or no MS games on PS ever. They're in position to do that.
@slicedlime@GreenWaterr Depends on preferences? I quite enjoy this “content only” direction of YouTube videos as a viewer - most outros feel like an unnecessary filler more than anything valuable.
@Adron Matter of reliability. Internet-based calls are usually better, but they can be victim of routing issues, random latency spikes etc. while satellite bandwidth slots are fixed and reserved for all end-to-end traffic. Lower chance anything breaks.
@spudley99@codinghorror This was a thing in Edge since before it moved to Chromium engine; it can be disabled somewhere in settings (not sure if system or browser).
@NateSticco@Donzanoid Big engines feel much more like a bare-bones game with extensive modding tools, rather than a framework you use to build the game. I'd love to see an engine that's more in line with being large set of libraries (think Qt, XNA) to build from.
@Donzanoid Other issue: what happens to games that don't fit Unreal/Unity model of creation and runtime? Box engines fit asset-heavy, small scale games well, but kind of break with anything outside that. I'm worried we're about to have much more limited selection of games because of it.
@StardustLabsMC All of spawn chunks being mushroom island biome, including underground. Since 1.18 and 3D biomes, finding a seed like that without cave biome underneath seems near-impossible, there's always a lush cave or dripstone cave in the way.
@renmiou @geoffkeene @LTB_tweets The word “finished” is more often used as synonymous to “completed” - meaning doing everything the game has to offer. Confrontation in “beating a game” is about player vs game.
