A multi-sport athlete while at Miami of Ohio — "The Cradle of Coaches", Weeb eventually served as an assistant coach under Paul Brown at the Great Lakes Naval Station and later with the Browns.

After winning AAFC and NFL titles with Cleveland, Ewbank built the Colts from a league doormat into two-time NFL champions in the late-1950s.

In 1963, he became head coach and general manager of the Jets, constructing and leading the team to its eventual, stunning Super Bowl III triumph.

Easily my favorite personal Sterling memory: I asked John to make a home run call for my Dad as his Father’s Day present about 8 or 9 years ago. With absolutely no hesitation, he freestyled this HR call off the dome. My dad to this day tells me it was the greatest gift he’d ever gotten.
