Today, we celebrate the installation of over 40 lakh solar rooftops under #PMSuryaGhar, a game changing initiative of Adarniya @narendramodi ji to shift towards a green future.

In Assam, under the scheme, we've installed 1.7 lakh+ of solar rooftops- 8,000+ being in May alone.

Throughout the day, I chaired meetings with key departments to review the progress of schemes of our Double Engine Govt which will give thrust to Assam's development journey.

1️⃣With the Finance Dept, I reviewed preparations for the upcoming Budget and how we can realise the promises made to the people of Assam
2️⃣With the Health Dept I reviewed important issues such as reducing IMR below national average by 2029, filling manpower in hospitals, equipping tea garden hospitals, continuing with the free diagnostic programmes, follow on the success of the Mega Health Camps and progress of key health initiatives among other issues
3️⃣With NHAI, NHIDCL, NHIML, I reviewed the progress of major ongoing infrastructure projects including Gohpur-Numaligarh Tunnel, Guwahati Silchar Expressway, Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, Kamakhya Ropeway among others. Instructed officials to fast-track ongoing projects and ensure timely completion whilst maintaining quality of work.

Authorities in Bangladesh have halted the sacrifice of a rare albino buffalo named “Donald Trump” and decided to preserve it at the national zoo in Dhaka. The 700-kg buffalo, known for its flowing blond hair resembling the hairstyle of US President Donald Trump, was taken into official custody just hours before it was to be sacrificed during Eid celebrations on May 28.

The buffalo’s owner, Moniruz Zaman, said police informed him that the government wanted to preserve the animal due to its rarity. He agreed to hand it over peacefully after authorities assured him he would either receive compensation or another animal in exchange. Zaman had purchased the buffalo only three days earlier for sacrifice at his home in Keraniganj, near Dhaka.

Police officials said livestock experts believed the buffalo was still young and could live for several more years. National zoo curator Atiqur Rahman confirmed that special arrangements, including a separate shed and caretaker, had already been made for the animal.

The buffalo’s former owner, agro-farm operator Zia Uddin Mridha, said his brother had named it “Donald Trump” because of its unusual blond hair. The animal had already become popular on social media and attracted visitors before being sold.

Albino buffaloes are extremely rare in Bangladesh, where most buffaloes are dark-skinned. Local reports said its cream-coloured body, pinkish nose and long blond hair made it stand out during Eid cattle trading.
