While I can accept ignorance and misconceptions about FGM from laypersons, what I find unacceptable is how a senior medical officer within @MohGambia continues to perpetuate falsehoods and misinformation about #FGM

Infringing on people's right to show there grievance, voice there opinions & demand for fairness & equity should have died after The Gambia declared never again. The people of this country deserve good governance and stewardship. We deserve freedom of expression. #FreeTheYouths
For 22 years, peaceful assembly was denied in 🇬🇲. Today, youth who make up over 70% of our population are being jailed for exercising their rights & The security sector still clings to tactics of the past.
But let’s be clear, youth aren't just the majority they're the movement.
At least six young women have reportedly been arrested. Tear gas, intimidation, brute force tactics from Jammeh’s era are back on our streets.
We haven’t forgotten what women endured in detention. We demand their immediate release. #Gambia must not repeat its past.

Urgent Alert: Children Abducted by Taxi Passengers in Brikama Jiddah
A shocking abduction occurred this morning when four individuals in a taxi forcibly took two children from their aunt while she was walking them to school. The incident, reported by a distressed family member, has sparked an urgent call for public assistance to locate the missing children.
According to the family, the taxi, bearing the license plate number 3648, stopped abruptly near the children and their aunt. The group inside—consisting of two men, two women, and the driver—quickly exited the vehicle and seized the children. One of the abductors was reportedly wearing a mask, adding to the alarming nature of the incident. Despite the chaos, the children’s aunt managed to identify two of the perpetrators and noted the taxi’s number plate before it sped away.
The family has issued a desperate plea for help, urging anyone with information to come forward. “Please help share this information so we can locate the children as soon as possible,” the family member wrote. “Any assistance or awareness would be greatly appreciated.”
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, but the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of a taxi with the license plate 3648 or suspicious activity matching the description. The incident took place in Brikama Jiddah, though specific details about the time and exact location remain limited.
For anyone with information, the family has provided contact numbers: 3496153 and 3838452. As the search intensifies, the community is rallying to support the safe return of the abducted children.
Ending today’s session with the impeccable Sainabou Drammeh on the important topic of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support. She speaks on the importance of breaking generational trauma by unlearning toxic mindsets that threaten our wellbeing. #thewomanboss#Me2AtFGM
This tweet right here is the problem women an girls have and even young boys.
Victim blaming at its peak and not to mention the idiot kept defending and arguing his stupid comment instead of deleting this initial rubbish. I am so upset at this I won't bother with dialogue.
@Cemhri Speaking of cause, this is an important aspect of school anxiety and EBSA for children and adolescents. This component needs to be addressed as a part of creating an environment that allows a child's healthy mental and emotional growth, especially during an after adverse event.
@Cemhri These are my observations of the impact of school anxiety and EBSA in The Gambia, further studies can help get a better view of the situation and hopefully lead to the designing and implementation of interventions that help every child to learn regardless of condition or cause.
