🇵🇼 Deeply honoured to meet President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. @Surangeljr of the Republic of Palau.

The distance between Ngerulmud and Brussels may be vast. Yet the ties between our countries are real.

President Whipps has repeatedly delivered a powerful message at the United Nations and at successive climate conferences: especially for small island states, climate change is not an abstract debate or a distant threat. It is already affecting their homes, their heritage and their very survival.

I fully share his call for greater ambition and urgent action, including on the protection of the oceans.

Our generation carries an immense responsibility: to protect our one shared planet and to stand alongside the island nations that are already facing the most devastating consequences of global warming, despite having contributed the least to it.

Belgium is a committed partner in this fight. Climate action and environmental resilience are priorities of our development cooperation.

🇮🇳 Great to see my colleague @DrSJaishankar again here in Brussels. In these geopolitically turbulent times, his presence in the European capital sends an important signal about the strength of the EU-India relationship.

India is a partner of growing strategic importance for Belgium and for Europe. Today, we agreed to take our bilateral relationship to the next level by establishing a Strategic Dialogue between our two countries.

We had a productive exchange on intensifying our cooperation in trade and investment, health, technology and innovation. We also discussed international stability, the security of maritime routes and the need for resilient supply chains. Issues where India's role is indispensable.

The partnership between Belgium and India has real momentum. Let's build on it.

This Treaty will allow Belgian prisoners in Cambodia and Cambodian prisoners in Belgium to serve their sentences in their State of origin.

🇮🇳 Energizing conversation in Davos with India's Minister of New and Renewable Energy @JoshiPralhad.

India and Belgium are natural allies in the energy transition. We discussed concrete opportunities in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and nuclear technologies including small modular reactors.

We already have momentum on the ground: Belgian companies are active in India's energy sector, and our collaboration is moving from planning to action. We are working on unlocking even more potential in the near future.
