It’s okay everyone! I’m okay!

Oh, my goodness there has been a bit of miscommunication. I’m not suffering from an illness; my doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects. Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out.

What awful timing for this to happen! My deepest appreciation to everyone for the concern.

This is just a speedbump! I expect to be out and about as soon as I’m given the go-ahead!

Armed white men marched into a Mississippi courthouse in 1874 and ordered the elected Black sheriff to resign at gunpoint. He signed.

When Black citizens marched to put him back in office, as many as three hundred of them were killed.

Vicksburg, December 1874. Peter Crosby had been elected sheriff of Warren County by the voters — a Black man holding real power in a majority-Black county, exactly as the Constitution now permitted.

A white paramilitary group decided otherwise. They surrounded the courthouse, forced his resignation, and took the office.

Crosby went to the governor, who told him to summon citizens to help him retake his post. Hundreds came, mostly unarmed farmers.

They were met on the roads outside town and shot.
