Astral Foundation, in collaboration with Guardbook Conservation Foundation, has extended its support to the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve through the provision of a specialized Wildlife Rescue & Anti-Grazing Vehicle.

As Rajasthan’s newest tiger reserve, RVTR faces growing challenges in safeguarding its fragile ecosystem. The addition of this vehicle will enhance on-ground response capabilities ensuring timely assistance to injured or displaced wildlife, curbing illegal grazing activities, and strengthening overall habitat protection efforts for species like tigers and leopards.

This step reflects our shared intent to empower forest frontline staff with the resources they need to protect India’s rich biodiversity. Through focused interventions like these, we continue to contribute to a more secure and balanced future for both people and wildlife.

Astral Foundation, in collaboration with Earth Focus Foundation, is supporting children from tribal communities in the Kanha region of Madhya Pradesh.

This year, 130 children are part of the Anand Ghar program, where they build basic skills in reading, writing, and math. In the evenings, Anandghars become spaces for children to enjoy learning through local art, science activities, games, and cultural stories.

The English Language and Library programs are also helping children discover the joy of reading and learning in new ways.

These efforts are part of a larger initiative that reaches over 3,000 children in the region creating access to teachers, learning tools, and safe spaces to grow.

Astral Foundation contributes to the preservation of Eurasian otters in the Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR) in Madhya Pradesh. Since 2019, in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department and the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT), we have supported efforts to understand otter ecology and forest river ecosystems.

Listed as 'near threatened' on the IUCN Red List, Eurasian otters face challenges due to habitat loss and other pressures. Astral Foundation aims to support conservation efforts and the protection of freshwater ecosystems in India by fostering a better understanding.

Astral Foundation extends support to forest-based tribal communities by helping them manage Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) sustainably.

As part of this effort, the Mariyam Self-Help Group in Gadchiroli recently completed a honey processing and packaging training at the Community Development Centre. With guidance from the CBeeD team, they learned key skills in honey procurement, processing, and packaging to align with market requirements.
This initiative is aimed at helping tribal communities build sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving their natural resources. By providing training and support, we hope to encourage self-reliance and economic stability.

Through collective efforts, we are also helping women in these communities conserve wild bee populations and market their honey more effectively, contributing to their financial well-being.

Astral Foundation’s ‘Daughters of Piplantri’ campaign has touched many hearts and inspired countless people across the nation. Continuing this noble mission, we decided last year to adopt a village near Ahmedabad to support both the cause of saving the girl child and protecting our environment.

We adopted the village of Vasna Keliya and committed to planting 111 trees for every girl child born there. Today, on National Girl Child Day, we are proud to share that we have planted 888 trees in the village under this initiative. With the support of the villagers, we have not only planted these trees but also have started to nurture them together.

This initiative has brought about a positive impact by supporting the importance of saving girl children while also contributing to a greener environment. Let us continue to work together to make a difference. Happy National Girl Child Day!

Astral Foundation, in collaboration with the ICDS department of the Government of Gujarat, initiated Nand Ghar Project, an activity aimed at renovating and upgrading anganwadis in remote villages of Gujarat. As part of this project, Astral Foundation has successfully helped renovate and upgrade four anganwadis in the villages of Santej, Vasna Keliya, Khatripur, and Aambethi.​

This effort focuses on improving the conditions for young children in these communities by providing them with a safer, more hygienic environment for early education. The renovated anganwadis will offer a better space for pre-primary education, ensuring that the children in these areas have access to the care and learning opportunities they need. Astral Foundation supported an initiative towards sustainability at Sundarvan Nature Discovery Centre by installing a 25 kW Grid-Connected Roof Top Solar System. This aligns with our commitment to supporting projects that positively impact both the environment and the community.

Since its installation, the solar system has generated approximately 52,500 kWh of electricity from May to August 2024, resulting in a substantial reduction in carbon emissions—equivalent to about 44.62 metric tons of CO2. The benefits extend beyond just environmental impact; Sundarvan has seen a significant decrease in electricity costs, estimated at 65% to 75%. These savings are being reinvested into nature conservation and educational activities, further enhancing the positive outcomes of this project.

Moreover, the solar panels provide essential shade for six bird enclosures, helping protect the animals from the harsh summer heat. This demonstrates the multifaceted value of sustainable innovation, combining environmental benefits with enhanced animal welfare.

We are pleased to support Sundarvan’s efforts to lead by example, showing that embracing renewable energy solutions is not only feasible but essential for a sustainable future.
