@costlylogics Breathtakingly dishonest. There is no problem with individual soldiers with bad opinions serving their nation in the army--as Platner did, as Azov Battalion did. It is unacceptable to elevate such an individual to represent their nation in the senate.
Worth pointing out that “liberal homo-fascism” is a favorite bugbear of Russian propaganda.
That “globohomo” stuff from Carlson Jr., recently. Or calling Euromaidan “Gayromaidan”
@SevaUT@profmarichal In Peter Watts' _Blindsight_ this was the work of the synthesists: translating expertise across domains, without fully comprehending them. I've often found his Chinese Room exploration to be a useful metaphor for AI.
@SinjinDelmore@ParanoidPol Ok, then the Palestinian one-staters are part of the Muslim Brotherhood lebensraum-esque project to expand their territory. Unbelievable hypocrisy.
It's why I'm a two-stater.
@SinjinDelmore@ParanoidPol "Jewish" is part of the definition, of course. If they were Arabs instead of Jews, you would not call them settlers.
(For the record, I am firmly against the settlements, and cheered Biden for sanctioning them. I just think you guys are incredible hypocrites.)
@ParanoidPol It currently is a one state. Israel de facto has control over everything from the river to the sea. Two state could only work if all settlers in the occupied W. Bank, Golan Heights, & S. Lebanon was expelled. And they had a hard time removing the settlers in Gaza in 2005
@SinjinDelmore@ParanoidPol Why? Wouldn't they just become full voting citizens of the new government, just like the millions of Arabs who live in Israel? Must every Arab state be Judenfrei?
For weeks, Irish politicians have dodged questions about the refinery in Ireland supplying Russia’s war machine.
So I tracked down government minister Niall Collins at a farming show.
He refuses to back sanctions & his stance was worse than I expected.
Avoidance.
This man was a personal translator (& subsequent defense witness) for the convicted terrorist mastermind of the first NYC World Trade Center bombing, then went to Bosnia to ‘volunteer’ for an organization later exposed as an Al Qaeda front group. Dem Congressional frontrunner.
The thing that frustrates me about the discussion of some of the most polarizing midterm Dem candidates is that the pundits treat fascism as an exclusively right wing thing. But it's not. It's populism, and the appeal of purity testing and blaming a scapegoat for all of society's woes.
Every account of the Third Reich written by someone who actually interacted with Hitler says something similar: the man was extremely charismatic to some, completely odious to others, intolerant of disloyalty, and appeared to believe in nothing at all, adopting whatever stance necessary to win him power, except for one unwavering belief, that the Jews were responsible for all of Germany's problems.
When you see candidates who appear to adopt whatever stance necessary to appeal to a populist sentiment, except that they are monomaniacal in blaming immigrants, Jews, Israel, Mexicans, women, etc for all problems anyone faces, and their supporters are fervent and see evil and disloyality everywhere, you're looking at a fascist.
@Dinosn Waiting for someone to produce a binary distribution, preferably with 98lite. Would like to experiment with connecting only Linux to network, using Windows as basic desktop and X server.
Graham Platner’s Nazi tattoo isn’t generic.
It’s the Totenkopf, tied to Nazi camp guards who brutalized Jews.
For anyone, especially Jewish men like Rahm Emanuel and Chuck Schumer, to put politics over basic decency is indefensible.
@AralezNeverBeen@ABujnicki@Aella_Girl Like simply not wishing to live in a world comprised entirely of red buttoneers. It's the people most unlike him that make life worthwhile.
