For many years, I've asked students in my intro classes to complete the following sentences on a notecard. The results have always been fascinating. 1) Astronomy is... 2) Astrology is... 3) Math is... 4) Science is... This year I used @Mentimeter so I could share with y'all 1/20
We have to dispel the myth that people are either good at math/logic or more creative. This is not how our brains work. We are ALL capable of developing both sets of skills. Challenge these self-limiting beliefs before they become self-fulfilling!

I think this might be my last post on here, but at least I'll go out doing what I love: yelling into the void about how academic institutions need to change
Hey #astrotwitter! The AAS Early Career Engagement Task Force wants to hear your opinions about AAS services and how to improve them. Please take 5-10min to complete our survey and spread the word to others, especially EC folks who may not be AAS members. https://t.co/wEfdI9PiHq

And when I told people that, they automatically redirected me to “success stories.” /1
My first first-author paper has been accepted for publication! We use a stacking analysis to quantify the total stellar mass and total star formation within Planck-selected galaxy protoclusters, including the contribution from faint, undetected galaxies. https://t.co/pGYPeYZyVs
🎉🎉Paper day 🎉🎉
Ever been confused by all the direct imaging terms and acronyms? Wanna know how it works and why you should care? This PASP tutorial article is a beginners guide to high-contrast imaging. I hope those new to the field find it helpful!

As a PhD student, all I focused on was getting a PhD.
As a PhD supervisor, I focus on training students on the long-term process that leads to getting a PhD.
Here's some examples🧵
