โก๏ธ LAZULI IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. While she has warmed up to allowing brief pets in shelter while eating treats, she remains wary of petting and handling. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What my friends at ACC say about me: I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. A volunteer writes: Lazuli was brought to us in a pillowcase and without much information. That's a tough start but it's ok! We can always work with what we've got and what we're given to help us learn what the best forever family for someone looks like. It's just that Lazuli hasn't been particularly forthcoming. Loafed on top of her little den on a little nest of blankets, Lazuli greeted me like she was already totally over my visit. This is both completely fine and fair, but Lazuli's lack of interest in treats, toys, and pets have served to show us that she's in need of a little extra patience, a lot of extra love, and time to become the cat she wants to be. Another volunteer writes: Lazuli, brought to us in a pillow case by her finder is a young gal who needs a new beginning and a new history. Whatever life she had before entering our shelter took a toll on her. A kennel did not make her feel any better...Lazuli did not care for our efforts to acclimate her until she did, time helping too of course. Yep, Lazuli has been with us for more than two months! She is in adoptions now, often seen resting quietly in her cubby or in her"living room". She comes forward when her door is opened, samples treats and really plays well with catnip toys(on her own) and feather wands. She can get a little overexcited and might lightly swat(most often without nails)with petting. Lazuli needs a chance at a better life in a quiet adult only home with a patient, experienced and caring new owner who will make her feel safe, worthy and loved. Will you be Lazuli's Lucky Star? โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

"Are you ready? Okay. Let's roll" - Todd Beamer on United Airlines Flight 93 (September 11th 2001)
Heroism as a concept has been poked, prodded, mocked, and questioned the past few years.
But if asked what it looks like, I would happily point to the men and women, normal people, who boarded Flight 93 the morning of 9/11. These were mothers, fathers, veterans, workers, friends just like you and me.
Due to delays in the flight, they became aware of the previous attacks, but only after four men overtook the plane.
Unanimously, the passengers and crew voted to take the plane back.
Todd Beamer, in that last of 37 calls made from the plane, intended to connect with his wife. He was instead bounced to telephone operator Lisa Jefferson. Together, they recited the Lord's Prayer and Psalm 23 before Beamer said: "Let's Roll."
While the Hijackers intended to crash the plane in DC, the passengers were able to redirect it to a field in Shanksville PA.
None of those on board survived, but it's estimated they saved countless lives by their Heroism.
I ask that you take time to remember them today.
We never think about this type of thing until time passes. I've always wondered if Namco/Tekken never brought back Paul's Tekken 2 stage because of the Twin Towers being in the background. Now with everything that's happened, it's frozen in time, forever 1996.
๐๐ MIA (ID 254011), 4 YO, MALE โ IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 5/29/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. ๐๐ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ

โก๏ธ MIA IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - she is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. She is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for her mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What my friends at ACC say about me: Mia interacts with the observer and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting, but she has a tendency to play rough, and has a very high energy level. We recommend that she go to a home with adopters with a moderate level of cat experience preferred and be well counseled in her history of sporadic incidents of pouncing on and stalking legs, ankles, and feet. Her behavior remains suitable for an adopter with an average amount of experience, provided the adopter is aware of these behaviors and is able to comfortably manage them- committing to a consistent feeding and play schedule and behavior modification plan to mange her energy levels and play needs. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I am looking for a home with a patient person. I would do best in a home with only adult humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them. Playtime is essential! I love climbing tall cat trees and having fun with interactive toys! I am not one to sit still! I will flourish in a home with someone that will keep me mentally and physically active! I love to play and will need appropriate toys and positive outlets for my energy. A volunteer writes: This is Mia's world and we're living in it. Unfortunately for all of us, however, Mia's world has gotten smaller and she isn't always sure how to adapt to this one as she needs. An active kitty who takes joy in managing the moving parts, shelter life seems to have left her feeling a bit confused. Mia loves to play and likes to have many opportunities to do so. She loves pets and cuddles until she doesn't and she has the kind of kitty communication that takes a little extra patience and time to understand and appreciate. She's looking for someone who will welcome and love her for all that she is and is hoping that'll be you. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป
