I'm proofreading something and there is literally only *one* sentence that does not have an em dash. In some places, a comma would be fine; in others, no punctuation is needed there at all. Ugh.

OMG, the misused and overused em dash!
The higher-ups at my org are IN LOVE with the em dash (whether it's because of using AI to write, I don't know. [Although, I do know that one of them puts nearly everything through AI.]). It makes my brain itch every time I see it.

Okay, I know the whole "AI will make your work so much quicker and easier" argument and "AI is here to stay, get used to it" response, but I feel pride when I can write or revise narratives on my own or when I can track grants and post-award tasks.

My mgr used AI today to quickly edit a narrative to match a funder's length limit, and I felt like it was a puzzle I could have solved if given a chance.
Watched a webinar about using AI to read post-award reqs and make timelines, and I was thinking "But I can do that on my own."
