Year after year, the people of Khanakul face flooding. This is not unknown-this is a well-known reality in West Bengal.

So the question is:
Why are we still waiting for a basic bridge?
Why should villagers continue to suffer every year?

Why is a safe and dignified life still a “promise” and not a reality?
Are rural lives less important?
This is not a luxury demand.
This is about safety, access, and basic human dignity.
We are not asking for promises anymore. We are asking for action.

Yet, before every election, political parties come with promises:

“This time, the bridge will be built.”

Measurements are taken. Plans are discussed. Hope is created.
And then… nothing changes.

Students have to cross the river just to go to school. People must take the same risky route to reach the market for daily needs, to buy medicines, to go to hospitals, or even to access basic services like banks.

This picture shows the reality of my village in Khanakul.
This is not a temporary problem.
This has been our reality for as long as I can remember.
Every year during monsoon and floods, people here struggle to cross the river. Children, elderly people, patients-everyone suffers.
