Here for Physics and Current Events. I use X to listen in on brilliant people. Full of opinions based in a strong foundation of not giving a crap. Peace
@CoreyWriting Agreed, but it's also not true for many whites including myself. By 1860 only 1-2% of whites participated in slavery. Only around 50% of modern whites had ancestors arrive in the US prior to abolition. Your point is none-the-less spot-on.
Remarkably stupid post. The United States government is 250. The same system of governance for 250 years. The land has been inhabited long before the United States. I love most Europeans but some of you are absolute fools. Germany is only as old as World War II. It's alright, we have fools in the US too but at least they have the good sense to double up on their Xanax and box wine today.
@MarsudP@JonErlichman My post clearly was a comment on the age of the governments. News flash, the land has been there the same amount of time for all of us.
@IronDuk05186191 250 Refers to the current governmental system which has been in place for 250 years. England has a decent record. I would say 1689 Bill of Rights was probably the last real change in England.
That is not the age of the current form of government. Here's a little history for you:
Timeline of major governmental/regime changes
1139/1143 – 1910: Kingdom of Portugal (Monarchy)Afonso Henriques proclaimed himself king in 1139; independence was recognized internationally in 1143. This was initially an absolute monarchy that gradually became constitutional in the 19th century. It lasted roughly 770–771 years.
1910: First Portuguese Republic a revolution ended the monarchy on October 5, 1910.
1926–1933: Military dictatorship (Ditadura Nacional)A coup in 1926 overthrew the unstable First Republic.
1933–1974: Estado Novo (“New State”)António de Oliveira Salazar established an authoritarian, corporatist dictatorship in 1933. This was one of the longest-lasting right-wing dictatorships in 20th-century Western Europe.
April 25, 1974: Carnation RevolutionThis is the last major change in the form of government. A nearly bloodless military coup (supported by the people, who placed carnations in soldiers’ gun barrels) overthrew the Estado Novo dictatorship. It ended authoritarian rule, led to decolonization of Portugal’s remaining empire, and began the transition to democracy.
1976 onward: Third Portuguese Republic (current system)A new democratic constitution was approved in 1976. Portugal became a unitary multi-party semi-presidential representative democratic republic.
Don't be so stupid.
Happy 250th to the USA and 100th to the wave function.
Both declared independence in revolutionary times. Both have been argued over, reinterpreted, and occasionally misunderstood ever since.
The experiment continues....
@eclipsethis2003 This is obviously AI generated. Why are there so many people commenting on this as though it's real? We are in big trouble if people are this easily fooled.
@EmmaVigeland You're right, the Gazans were incredibly stupid to attack Israel like that. Any fool would know they would retaliate. Yet they do it over and over again expecting a different result. There really is an intelligence problem in Islam.
Dark matter was always just a placeholder for 'we don't know what it is, but it gravitates like matter.' A lot of the confusion comes down to bad naming. Physics is full of it - starting with the king, 'the observer effect,' which makes people think consciousness is required when it's really just interaction disturbing the system. 'Void' is another classic: in cosmology it doesn't mean empty, it means below-average density. Physicist love messing with non-physicist.
@WKCosmo I doubt they've lost trust in good science but they have lost trust in bad scientists pushing bad science. Folks that will come up with whatever answer their funding source wants them to find. That's not science.
@Nature I doubt they've lost trust in good science but they have lost trust in bad scientists pushing bad science. Folks that will come up with whatever answer their funding source wants them to find. That's not science.
